They don’t think it’s treasonous. When one part has successfully demonized the other party so much that their followers believe they are well and truly “Unamerican” there is nothing their party can do that is bad or wrong as long as it’s spun as fighting against the Democrats. After a fascist or cult leader either dies or is removed from power, the transition is never seamless. The unifying element in this new coalition is Trump, not some singular policy or ideology. He isn't the type to anoint his successor, and thus the internal splitting is inevitable and will have many options. It'll be messy, and yes the right wing mass will still vote in their minds for "the lesser of two evils", but there will be enough fraying from his coalition that makes the election attainable.
