Man that was great tv
Show is so good. Love this stuff. Grew up in the lower Hudson valley on the east side of the river (other side of West Point). Seeing the chain was awesome. Fuck Arnold
Simcoe is one of my all time faves. Hahaha
Fucking Quakers, man
Such a good show. One of my greater fears is that this show gets cancelled this year.
Usually I don't care for love stories or whatever, but major andre was such a great character.
I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.
Nathan Hale was such a badass
Did you miss the part where Washington said that he never said that. It was what they used as propaganda? Or did I mishear that?
He definitely said that. Several different versions of what happened, but I like the way the show draws a parallel to Andre's experience
On mobile, but there is a ton of literature on Andre. He was a fascinating dude and apparently a baller like they portrayed him. His self-portrait that he drew the day before dying is at Yale, and a monument was erected at the site of his death. He is now buried in Hero's Corner in England. There is even a lengthy account from someone who walked next to him on the way to the gallows. His last lines on the show were actual quotes. I didn't want to spoil things for myself before now, but the events leading to his capture and his death seem to have been almost verbatim from accepted accounts.
There are letters from Washington where he talks about his admiration for Andre, and Alexander Hamilton had a great quote upon his death. Mindblowing to think he was only 30.
Time to watch again
What a great final episode.
Didn't realize this was already the season finale. Really hope this show gets renewed.
Ive watched John Adams every 4th since its release. Until now, that has been my favorite revolutionary war series....not sure I still feel that way after seeing Turn. I'll watch John Adams again this week to see how they stack up
Im reading the Alexander Hamilton biography the musical is based on.
Just got to the part that covers this last episode. Just finished reading about them finding Arnold's wife in hysteria in the room and how they were debating if Andre was a spy or just a captured officer.
Hamilton lobbied very hard for Andre to have an officer's death. He obviously lost that debate.
"I pray you to bear me witness that I meet my fate like a brave man."
FUCK ME that got me.
The guy that played Andre may have been the best actor in the show.
Going to miss the character.
Random fact but he apparently has a child with Neve Campbell. I don't recall ever seeing him in anything before, but he was in the first Captain America. He was great on Turn.
Worried about this myself. It was 50/50 to be brought back for this season and it looks like viewership was down compared to season 2.
On S2E2 and already liking it more than S1
Just finished S2. Gonna fire up S3 sometime this week.
Season 4 BITCHES
Fuck yes fuck yes fuck yes
whew, hell yea...was nervous about that
That being said, I am now nervous as to how they could possibly top season 3 with what I know is left historically.
Unless they focus on the hunt for Arnold in NYC; however, we all know how that ends and I feel like that would be a shitty season anyway.
The Arnold subplot is one of the least interesting to me, anyways. Maybe I'm alone there.
Yeah, but you can't tell the Andre story without it. But yes, I agree with your stance on Arnold.
Oh for sure, it's important. But the possibility of focusing a whole season on it . . . bleh.
Can't tell the story of the Cuper Ring without Arnold. Arguable it's biggest discovery. The other being thwarting a sneak attack on NYC.
I dont think Arnold will be much of the focus. He was pretty marginalized by the British after defecting.
The ending of s3 with Andre though... That was fucking great television.
Gotta think season 4 is just going to wrap up the war in general right?
Yes. And one way they can tie Arnold in was that he was pleading Cornwallis to move his troops out of Yorktown and Cornwallis just laughed him off like all the British did.
Just finished the second season. Looking forward to the third. Does the pace pick up a little?
Yes, keep watching. More shit happens outside of setauket and the focus expands beyond just woodhall
S3 is, IMO, the best season.
It's not just your opinion...
Renewed for Season 4. Will be the last season.
Awesome. 4 seasons is a great run for a show like this, and glad they have an end point to wrap shit up.
LOL Gen Cornwallis, youre fucked.
Do you even July 30 bro?
Yeah I messed up.
I was excited
Never apologize for good news tho.
Season 4 premier tonight
Simcoe is such a great villain
Season 4 Episode 3 spoiler
Oh shit Judge Woodhull was killed. I always thought his character was handled well. Wonder how Abe will handle his father's death, to go with his brother's
Episode 5 spoiler
I was just thinking this season was missing Burn Gorman. Glad he's back. Going to be interesting how things turn out with him now that Abe is in the British forces
