Tomorrow at 6:00 AM EST. The draw for the first knockout round of the UEFA Champions League takes place at UEFA Headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Friday with seven former winners of Europe's élite club competition involved. Madrid lead the way Nine-time champions Real Madrid CF, whose Santiago Bernabéu Stadium will host the final on 22 May, have reached the knockout phase for a record 14th time while Manchester United FC, last season's beaten finalists, are making a 13th appearance. Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC and Olympique Lyonnais advanced for the seventh successive season while holders FC Barcelona and FC Internazionale Milano are appearing for the sixth straight year. Italian trio Eight nations are represented in the draw, with England, Italy and Spain boasting three sides apiece while France and Germany have two and Russia, Portugal and Greece one. PFC CSKA Moskva will make their maiden appearance in the knockout phase and are the first Russian side to progress from the group stage since FC Lokomotiv Moskva in 2003/04. No Italian team reached the quarter-finals last season and AC Milan, ACF Fiorentina and Inter will be determined to ensure that does not happen again as they await their fate in Nyon on Friday. Last-16 dates Clubs from the same association cannot be drawn against each other in the last 16, nor can winners and runners-up from the same group. The runners-up will play the first leg of their last-16 tie at home. The first knockout round first-leg ties will be played on 16/17 and 23/24 February with the second legs scheduled for 9/10 and 16/17 March. Obviously I hope United get an easy draw like Olympiacos or Stuttgart, cause it's all about advancing, but I kind of want AC Milan for some revenge. I really don't want Porto though, those bastards always play us tough.
VfB Stuttgart v FC Barcelona Olympiacos v Girondins Bordeaux Internazionale v Chelsea Bayern München v Fiorentina CSKA Moskva v Sevilla FC Olympique Lyon v Real Madrid FC Porto v Arsenal AC Milan v Manchester United
Inter v Chelsea and Milan v Man U will be the best matchups. Lyon is very dangerous too so Real Madrid better watch out, I could also see Porto surprising Arsenal if they dont take them seriously.
Europa League Draw Last 32 draw: Rubin Kazan (Russia) v Hapoel Tel Aviv (Israel) Athletic Bilbao (Spain) v Anderlecht (Belgium) FC Copenhagen (Denmark) v Marseille (France) Panathinaikos (Greece) v Roma (Italy) Atletico Madrid (Spain) v Galatasaray (Turkey) Ajax (Netherlands) v Juventus (Italy) Club Bruges (Belgium) v Valencia (Spain) Fulham (England) v Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine) Liverpool (England) v Unirea Urziceni (Romania) Hamburg (Germany) v PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands) Villarreal (Spain) v Wolfsburg (Germany) Standard Liege (Belgium) v Salzburg (Austria) FC Twente (Netherlands) v Werder Bremen (Germany) Lille (France) v Fenerbahce (Turkey) Everton (England) v Sporting (Portugal) Hertha Berlin (Germany) v Benfica (Portugal)
Not too much. They are hard to play at home and went undefeated in the group stage defeating Sevilla. Away they only beat Rangers and got handled at the other two (Sevilla and Stuttgart). I think that you guys should advance easily.
I would have liked to avoid Inter and just get an easy draw, but I'm not too worried. Don't think they will pose much of a challenge unless we keep playing like shit.
Chelsea with the easiest draw, IMO. Lol @ what Carlo will do to Inter with the team he has. Excited to play Manchester United again and I wish them the best of luck. Did they announce the schedule for home-away/away-home yet? Please, Lord, let us play the second leg in the San Siro.
"You beat Kevin down Cherry Hill! " They way that kid looks in a football uni and the way he says it, is priceless shit
the way I posted them is how they will play the first game so AC Milan plays Man U at San Siro first.
I remember a couple of months ago I was following all the European qualifyers on gamecast and then I saw Finland score a goal. Immediately I thought it cant be him, but it was.
we didnt get a bad draw but porto definately isnt a pushover, hopefully fab will be fully fit and maybe rvp back by then chelsea v inter and lyon v real are the best and i think lyon can take em imo
VfB Stuttgart v FC Barcelona Olympiacos v Girondins Bordeaux Internazionale v Chelsea Bayern München v Fiorentina CSKA Moskva v Sevilla FC Olympique Lyon v Real Madrid FC Porto v Arsenal AC Milan v Manchester United My picks to advance in BOLD
not that happy about psv's eufa cup draw tbqh. Hamburger SV is a tough tough team, all dutch teams have tough draws though, but psv was seeded so could have had it easier
yeah beckham: "oi spot on id like to have a row with united" *days later* draw: "hurp durp milans gonna play manulolololol"
I mean this with all seriousness. UEFA, FIFA, and all other irrelevant ones need to just stop with this drawing and shit and just say we are going to pick the matches so That way I don't have to watch some fat South African whore scream in a mic and other bullshit just find out who is playing who when they already know
