Story on Manny Diaz in SI reaffirms how much of a good guy Richt is. https://www.si.com/college-football/2019/02/08/manny-diaz-miami-hurricanes-transfers-signing-day Bums me out that he didn’t get a title in 2012.
So now it’s slam Tom Crean for demanding a culture change in Athens and lift Mark Richt back up to sainthood? What the fuck ever.
Wat. Mark Richt is a good guy. I’m glad Kirby is our coach. I never slammed Tom Crean for demanding a culture change.
We aren’t signing any unathletic kids anymore. Camera is also closer to 6’8” than 6’6” now. He will play a lot of four IMO. Both of our signees are ballers and will help immediately.
It bums me out that he made so much money in Athens while accomplishing relatively little. His lack of work ethic is well-known at this point. I have no use for Mark Richt.
I’m glad he had the affinity to retire and save Miami all that money after 3 years but not the school that he worked at for 15.
Mark Richt was great for a university like UGA. Gotta remember the history of Georgia before he got there. He laid the foundation for Kirby to make UGA nationally relevant.
You mean the history that includes a 42-18 all-time record against the cow college next to a shitty lake? Got it.
Just telling it like it is. 1 national championship since WW2 is laughable. We have 3 since your last one. But, seriously, Richt did really well for a small school like the #Georgia Bulldogs . Until Kirby, I didn't even know yall were D1.
Nah, it’s bad enough he’s hanging out here...I’m not going to keep feeding his idiocy. Georgia owns Clemson in a very special way and nothing said will change that.
We play 5 conference games against teams coming off a bye this year. Yuck. Week 6 - @Tenn Week 7 - SCar Week 10 - UF Week 11 - Mizzou Week 12 - @AU We’ll be coming off a bye for 2 of them, Tenn and UF.
Young amazing recruiters that just got massive raises but still need to learn a lot before moving on. They both probably know Kirby’s route was perfect. See what Dabo has at Clemson with those two Oc’s. It’s a good route to go assuming they like working for/with Kirby.
I almost took Kentucky tonight and thought better of it :/ I did take South Carolina earlier this week +16 vs Tennessee. I also took TAMU against us. I had a solid week.
Betting on sports is a losing proposition for 99% of the planet. But hey, if you need it to keep you entertained then by all means.
Haven't been gambling much lately but I won a couple hundred on a teaser last weekend. Rolled it over into another teaser yesterday. Only needed Tennesee +14 and those fuckers couldn't pull it off.
I grossed $4k gambling last year. $3500+ after buy ins.* * $3700 was a 3rd place finish in a season long golf pool where I spent $160. Don't expect that again this year.
Cager's story on his commitment to Miami is hilarious: https://theathletic.com/550135/2018...unny-his-road-back-from-an-acl-tear-was-hard/
I would almost guarantee that the vast majority of people who bet on sports - over several years - will be lucky to break even. Anyone who thinks they are engaged in a profit-generating enterprise by betting on sports is deluding themselves (unless you're truly a professional gambler). Personally, I like seeing my money in the bank and wasting it on drugs and vinyl but that's just me.
Outside of a few guys, that ‘16 class was Richt’s. Kirby only had a couple months to work with. Ridley and Kindley were great late gets. The Marshall flip and finding Herrien were good moves too. Kirby can’t really be judged from that class though. He’s obviously done an incredible job recruiting since he’s been here. I thought Michail Carter was going to be the best DL in that class. He hasn’t done anything.
I still don’t think that Richt’s recruiting was his major downfall. Obviously Kirby has upgraded that department fairly significantly as well, but I think the biggest change so far has been player development. Richt’s management of S&C was his biggest flaw in my opinion. I’m guessing that ‘16 class would’ve had a much higher bust rate had Richt stayed.
It’s a subjective thing for sure, but a mix of things. Performance relative to recruiting rankings, bust rate, draftees, and players who maximized their talent while in the program. There were a number of players under Richt who were varying degrees of mediocre who went on to have better pro careers than while at UGA (Ellerbe, Akeem Dent, Chris Clemons, Geno Atkins, Reshad Jones, Ramik Wilson, etc).
Good players push good players more than anything else. If you recruit at an elite level every year, players have to bring their best at all times or get passed.
Baker at 657 and Abrams at 695 and both could be 1st round draft picks. Really wish Abrams would've stayed - he and JR would've been an awesome duo.

Oh my god at the end of this game. We hit a 3 to tie with 8 seconds left, then fucking foul the MSU player on a shot with .5 seconds left. MSU player misses the first FT as a fan throws shit on the court.
