Yes. You would declare such an emergency if, for example, the pilots lost the use of their MFD screens.
Do you really want to board this aircraft? It has clearly shown that it does not want to fly to Zurich.
I have to go to Reston VA for work next month. Only direct flights from TPA to Dulles are on United. Should I risk it, or fly delta/American through ATL or Charlotte or fly into Regan?
If you’re only going to be in Reston, fly into Dulles by the easiest means possible. If you are staying closer into DC, fly into National.
Well under no circumstances should you think flying American Airlines is a good idea over United. Especially if it’s a layover on AA vs. direct United
Did United steal your girl? I can think of very few situations where I would pass flying a big 3 carrier direct and instead connect.
just seems like United is the one having most issues at the moment. Agree on connecting, really shouldve asked if I should fly United to Dulles or American to DCA. Going to be in reston for like 36 hours and don’t plan on leaving immediate vicinity
Issues with airlines change weekly, if not daily. Huge storm in denver? United is screwed because that’s a hub. Huge storm in the southeast (ATL/MIA?) could greatly impact delta and American. Any time you bring a connecting flight into the itinerary, you’re more likely to be delayed/miss a flight. My advice is to always take the earliest direct flight out. Limits opportunities of delays from incoming and/or connecting flights. People will always have their take on an airline due to personal experience (baggage issues, mechanical delays, old planes, customer service), which vary greatly from person/day/airport. Delta definitely has the track record of being most on time. Alaska-United-American are all separated by 2% https://www.usatoday.com/story/trav...rline-time-performance-data-2022/11486644002/
Plus everyone is kinda boned if there's a weather event that impacts any two of EWR, JFK, and LGA. The talk of the tpa/dca/iad options reminded me... It's loaded with ads and pop-under nonsense but I've come to like flightconnections.com as a starting point for understanding my route options for a given trip. It gives you a nice visual of the various options and helps you understand where airlines/alliances are competing against each other imo
Miami's airport is making a strong run for my least favorite large airport. Also, Biff, your Miami Skyclub, woof.
Forgot to mention that there wasn’t a single seat available in the United lounge in Newark the last time I was there. Total waste of money (if I had actually paid for it). I asked the barista if it was always this packed and she said “this is quiet compared to normal”.
All lounges have become zoos due to credit card access. It’s why they all rolled back their guest policies and I imagine will make even more changes soon.
Just landed at midway at 115 am. We’re stuck on the tarmac bc they don’t have anyone to help park us/don’t have a gate ready apparently. What the fuck
I also have a two hour drive home and work on 6 hours and have been flying since 330 PDT so I’d really like to get off this fucking plane
Yep. We were supposed to get in at 1215. To make things worse, it took an hour to get out bags once we did get a gate (we ended up sitting for about 25 minutes in the tarmac). I’ve never seen an airport so busy at 2 am from deflated flights and deleted/lost luggage
So you were always going to be getting in late and getting no sleep before working in the morning? Kind of a you problem. Poor scheduling. After reading this thread or any airline article on the last several years, why anyone wouldn't build in a cushion for delays is crazy to me. Not talking about wrt connections, that can't be helped sometimes. But scheduling a late-ass flight the night before you go back to work? That's just tempting fate to fuck you over.
To be clear, the complaint wasn’t so much that I was going to have a late night, etc. I knew that going in and unfortunately my options were to leave at 5 am (leave for the airport at 3 am) or get in super late. My complaining was centered around not having staff to move bags and get planes to gates. Midway was a madhouse last night. We were fortunate to get out of there in 90 minutes with our bags in hand. Others were not so lucky
I totally forgot about our trip from San Diego to Tahoe. I’m pretty sure there was something going in with our flight attendant. He moved a backpack from one overhead bin to another and dropped a full of water metal water bottle on a lady’s head (and then did nothing with the space created in the first bin) and then during drink service, he spilled half the drinks all over passengers bc he couldn’t hold the tray straight. He also mixed up at least 3 peoples drink orders and gave others half spillled drinks. It was very odd and a little unsettling. All in all, a rough travel weekend
come on man Readers added context they thought people might want to know The UAL stock did not fall 10% creating a $180 million loss for shareholders. UAL opened at $3.31 on July 6, 2009, and dipped to an intra-day low $3.07 (-7.25%) on July 10, but that very day closed at $3.26 and traded as high as $6.00 (+81.27%) four weeks later on August 6
Even clicking on it again now, that doesn’t show up for me. Some other vid and then the link to the YouTube vid of the song directly below it and then regular comments. But my bad. Regardless, even forgetting the money, it’s still just another example of United being a shitty airline.
The community note has really exposed all those “crazy facts” and ba aggregator accounts. Also- 80% price in four weeks. Gat damn.
The instrument mishandling thing is actually a rampant problem with all the airlines. The musicians I know are bitching about it seemingly every few weeks or so Btw
