Yep this is where we discuss Tyler Childers' music
Edit add on:
I feel like I am Gubbs when I add a Youtube link lol
He’s very good
Tyler Childers > Sturgill Simpson
was introduced to his music via this video. Just captivating.
Tyler Childers is about as good as it gets imo as far as singer/songwriters go.
First time I’ve heard of him.
He can’t miss. He has covered songs I can’t stand and now i love them. Or at least his version. I’m not as in love with his most recent studio album that sturg helped with, but the live versions of all those songs are fantastic.
You shut your dirty whore mouth
But they're pretty close. Bluegrass sturgill >>>
This video intruded me to him. Like, holy shit, this dude is the real deal.
Also, if you’re here, check out Lost Dog Street Band / Benjamin Tod. You might like.
Love me some Tyler. One of those artists that sends chills up your spine at times when he sings certain songs. Dude is straight peaches.
Why do we have to do this? Can’t we all ever just get along
I like Tyler’s music better but Sturgill is way more interesting.
Imagine if they went on tour together but it got cancelled because of a once in a century pandemic. Lol that would suck
And then sturgill difficulted his way out of his record and touring contracts so it won't be restarted
Had tickets for the show at the forum. Makes me sad.
This thread was started every Saturday night for 3 years.
Yeah I was planning on going to that show
Last show I saw before #quarantine
dunno why it took three years for him to get his own thread
That's why I did it
Didn't listen to him prior to attending Austin City Limits last year. Was about 10 rows back for his show. He is now my most played artist on Spotify by a long shot. Big fan.
after one listen this sounds like one of his concerts would be called a "hootenanny"
There is a lot of whiskey if that’s what a hootenanny entails
I wasn’t a huge fan of country squire but purgatory will go down as one of my favorite albums ever. It’s brilliant. I find the concept of it scary relatable to my life leading up to having kids.
Not a fan of country music in general, but this guy is an elite fucking musician. Same with Isbell and Sturgill.
First part of this video he covers Isbell's best song and does it almost better than the original. And he was probably a teenager when it was recorded
This song was on Yellowstone the other night
Went to the first show of that tour back in January before shit sucked.
It was also on the West Virginia episode of parts unknown
I feel like an idiot on not posting this
Getting real into this guy and Cody jinks
Srs Benjamin Tod is great. Try it out
the one thing that I’ve come to learn about Americana is that it hits the same notes for me that hip hop does when it’s at its best. It covers ground between love, drugs, sex and also does fine job of portraying the human element of music. Way of life, struggle etc
Gotta add some jason isbell to your list
I know my Sturgill rankings will be blasphemy but I just prefer a dude and his acoustic guitar
I love Isbell and should’ve listed him. I don’t love a ton though tbh. The stuff I do love from this genre is very important to me
And can’t forget John Moreland
Devine, Childers and Cody are my two favorite artists. We should get an apartment together.
I am unbelievably excited for sturgills bluegrass band.
Your witty humor mixed with his duh humor would be a lovely odd couple reboot
Moreland is far too dark for me
I can't believe I forgot him too. He's definitely up there with sturgill and childers to me.
I’ve caught 2 cast iron skillets on fire so I’m not sure this would be the best living situation
