Bankz, As an avid Everton supporter I can tell you with 100% honesty that David Moyes and the Everton front office did everything possible in their power to extend LD's stay at Goodison. The fans, management, and players all loved what Donovan brought to the club and their was a very noticeable dropoff in attacking prowess and goal opportunities after LD came back to LA.
LD already said he didn't like playing in Europe. He was a small fish in a big pond and wanted to go home. They didn't sell him because he DIDN'T want to go. He had a hell of a run this year. I don't contest that at all When I made my statement I should of done a better job explaining I ment his first run. I hope LD goes back to the EPL it would be great for him. And USA soccer But his first run and the reason he has been in LA the last few years was because he couldn't handle Euro soccer and wanted to come back home. He has stated this multiple times.

his first time in Germany was with Leverkusen i believe, first in 03 maybe and then again in 05? then he went to Bayern for a tryout in 07 or 08, which was a terrible choice IMO

Dude you came into this thread, state no way no how we move on. Then the points you make to support it are a lot of the time wrong to some extent. I feel I am a pretty avid fan of USA soccer, and have followed pretty diehard since the 2002 World Cup, and none of your points were what was seen on the field. You are treating us more like a World Power than us arguing with you. No sane USA fan on here thinks we're going to win it all. I want us to advance out of group stage, and that will be a good first accomplishment. And anything on from there is even better. But you seem to think there is no way no how we do it. Our group in 2010 is leaps and bounds lesser than the one we faced in 06. And to go along with that, our roster is FAR better than it was in 2006. Those are the reasons it makes since that we SHOULD move on.

he didn't score a goal in the 06 WC, so I don't think you can say his performance 4 years ago is what got him back to Europe. Also want to point out he isn't our only big EPL guy, Dempsey gets a ton of minutes for Fulham

i think he would have a shot to go back during the summer transfer window, WC or not. IIRC, there were reports that Chelsea would have some interest in him. this was not long after he returned to LA, so i'm sure there's a good chance the reports werent 100% true

No he needed to play in the EPL to get into game shape. I think most people understood the reason it was a short stay was to get ready for THIS WC. So if we didn't have a WC this year I don't think LD goes to the EPL for that short stint.

Yeah but he wouldn't of played for Everton if the WC wasn't this year. He didn't go to the EPL to get ready for MLS. He did it for the WC. To play at the highest level.

There's no way of knowing that. I don't see how you think we could convince Everton into taking him just because it's a WC year. There has to be want on their side, want that is created because he's actually good.
