I got the tshirt in my typical size and will be carefule when washing. Went upsize on training top and polo. Very glad I did.
Isn't the whole reason jurgen wanted the US job is because his family is all here and they are basically American? Why would he even want to go to England?
Gonna settle down with a nice cocktail and this 94 page class action lawsuit against the MLS players union from youth clubs over training and solidarity fees. I'm an adult.
John Anthony Brooks @j_brooks25 Jul 2 Congratulations and all the best for Mr & Mrs Chandler #photobombedby @chandler__22
Zardes, Bradley, Morris, and Jozy will certainly be in the picture for at least the next 2 years. Then there'll be some younger MLS guys like Kellyn Acosta that will probably emerge. Plus, it's not like JK will stop calling in Zusi or Besler.
We cannot expect anything from any of that first four. Zusi gives you nothing in a world cup. I'm not commenting on guys that you might find on our bench. I'm pointing out that virtually everybody who could form a backbone for the next campaign is playing abroad.
You think Jurgen isn't going to start Bradley Jones and Altidore if they're healthy? Hell at this point you can probably ass Zardes to that group.
LOL if you don't think Bradley is still a starter leading up to 2018. Not saying he should automatically be one, but JK has picked him as captain. And I expect Jermaine to still be involved if he doesn't retire, guy is still in tremendous shape. Zardes is the most capped player the past 18 months, he's a starter right now.
"ass Zardes" indeed I don't actually disagree with anything you all have said here. I am just very pessimistic in my outlook for all of these players. I think Bradley has officially lost it. I think Jozy's first touch generally offsets the fact that he can be a bully when he actually has a chance to get the ball in the box.
There really isn't a whole lot of talent in the forward pool right now outside of MLS. Wood, Jozy, Morris and Dempsey are the 4 main options. ArJo has been hurt off and on since WC, Boyd has been hurt since WC, Rubio Rubin has been hurt since the WC and still has a ways to go in-terms of development. They next in line that are actually healthy are Fafa Picault, Andrew Wooten, Jerome Kiesewetter all of which are playing in the 2 Bundisliga. Overseas younger prospects have a ways to go like Haji Wright have a ways to go. Same in the case for the defensive/holding midfielder role. You have Bradley and Beckerman and little else. Beckerman is likely done. Danny Williams and Alfredo Morales have not ever shown to be good enough. At least you have some prospects like Will Trapp, Perry Kitchen, Emerson Hynman, Kellyn Acosta. Hard to see any of these guys unseating Bradley in the next 2 years.
Will be interesting to see what JK does in the next qualifiers. Bradley is suspended for the St. Vincent game, but is also out 6 weeks from that injury in the 3rd place game. If Nagbe doesn't start against SV&G and T&T matches...actually I wouldn't be shocked.
The stars are aligning for Christian Pulisic at Borussia Dortmund Written by Will Parchman When Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined Borussia Dortmund in 2013, you could hardly have found a player more suited to BVB. Flush with Champions League money and riding a Jurgen Klopp-sized wave, BVB threw a club record €27.5 million at the creative attacking midfielder from Shakhtar Donetsk. In modern soccer parlance, BVB is essentially an intermediary between the Shakhtars and the Manchester Uniteds of the world. It provides a vital link between the clubs that pull promising wonderkids from their homes and the clubs that do no scouting and skim off the top of the rest of Europe. Shakhtar is the former. Manchester United is the latter. BVB is in the middle, refining rough diamonds into polished ones and then selling them to moneyed vendors for twice the cost. That’s exactly what just happened with Mkhitaryan. BVB flipped him to United for €42 million, a nearly 100 percent markup from when they bought him three years ago. Almost in the same breath, BVB sold Mats Hummels back to Bayern Munich for nearly nine times what it bought him for in 2009, and sold Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City for nearly seven times his cost when BVB bought him from Nurnburg in 2011. All told, BVB made about a €70 million profit on those three players alone. And nobody is happier about all this than Christian Pulisic. Pulisic needs no introduction of course, and he’s springing into the 2016-17 season with BVB on the back of a few brief USMNT sub stints at the Copa America this summer. Importantly, Pulisic has BVB coach Thomas Tuchel’s ear, and the fact that he managed to earn 387 first team minutes in nine stints in competitive league matches at the tender age of 17 is significant. This is how big clubs earmark players for future first team duty. Blood them early, ease them in, and then find their spot. The departures of Gundogan and Hummels aren’t all that significant for Pulisic, but Mkhitaryan’s is. One of the reasons Pulisic found it so hard to break into the first team in 2015-16 was because the talent pileup in the attacking third was real. Both Mkhitaryan and Shinji Kagawa helped crowd out Pulisic, who found time on the left when Marco Reus was injured or needed rest. BVB’s activity in the transfer market communicates Tuchel’s desire to re-inject competition into the wide play. Tuchel has already signed six new players. Two of those are right wingers, including €15 million man Ousmane Dembele from Rennes. The 19-year-old should compete for minutes right away, and the lesser known Emre Mor from Nordsjaelland in Denmark is almost Pulisic’s exact age. At €7 million, BVB didn’t buy him to fritter away on the bench. The albatross on the line is Marco Reus. Constantly rumored to be on the transfer block and almost chronically injured in recent days, the pricey left winger has been the biggest historical hurdle to Pulisic’s playing time. Reus is a natural left winger, one of the best in the world on his day, and if Tuchel sees Pulisic’s long term future at that position, well, he’s more or less stuck as a second option until Reus breaks again. But Tuchel is crafty. BVB has not attacked the forward position aggressively in the transfer market (this could of course change with the sudden influx of Mkhitaryan money), and behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang BVB is somewhat ragged. Reus has played underneath as a second forward before, and it isn’t out of the question that he’d find a home closer to goal with his mobility thinning with each progressive injury. This means, for the first time, Pulisic has a genuine crack of daylight into the starting XI. But that’s all it is at this point; a slim fissure. Pulisic doesn’t even turn 18 until mid-September, so it isn’t out of the question that we see him bounce between the reserves and a few Bundesliga gameday rosters in the latter part of 2016. But with each massive transfer, Pulisic inches that much closer to another 100 or 200 or 500 minutes with one of the world’s biggest clubs. And with the dearth of Americans at the highest level in Europe right now, that’s reason enough for excitement.
Grant Wahl @GrantWahl 38m38 minutes ago CONCACAF Hexagonal draw was today. If US wins semi group A (as is likely), likely to face MEX at home & Costa Rica away on 1st 2 matchdays. Grant Wahl @GrantWahl 28m28 minutes ago Already putting USA-Mexico in Columbus on November 11 (in pencil, at least) on my calendar. #GuerraFría
The entire hex (fifth round) schedule is set up the teams just need to be put in their specific spot based on if they finish first or second in the group https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(CONCACAF)
I can't imagine Klinsmann leaving the US for England, nor can I imagine them actually being interested.
Julian Green got the start for Bayern today against City. Had two great opportunities in the first half and put both right at the keeper. Disappointing.
Scored in Bayern last game off a rebound and had an OG-assist. Never going to get minutes at Bayern at least without first going somewhere else or likely multiply somewhere else first.
I don't know why Bayern have kept him around. They've already parted with better players in his age group like Mitchell Weiser. Maybe it's just that they can't find a buyer.
Green went on loan 2 years ago and pouted the whole time and was unbearable and never played. Green didn't want to go on loan last year, so he played in the 4th Division, which is amateur and a level below college soccer. Green needs to come with a new attitude and willingly embrace a new situation this year or just go pro in something other than sports.
Hamburg was a clusterfuck while he was there, he shouldn't let that experience sour him on the whole loan process. He needs to go somewhere like Hanover or one of the other better Bundesliga II teams.
Javi Martinez thinks Julian Green will get "many opportunities" with Bayern Munich this season By Rob Usry Just when you thought he was out, they pull him back in. That's right. Julian Green is once again featuring in Bayern Munich matches during the preseason. The U.S. international has started the German giant's first two preseason matches, scoring a goal in the process. Many believed the 21-year-old's time with Bayern would inevitably come to an end after spending almost all of last season in the German fourth-division with the club's reserves. However, it appears as if Green will at least stick it out a little longer and fight for his spot and according to one of his teammates, he could have a chance to make an impact. Following the club's 1-0 preseason win over former manager Pep Guardiola and Manchester City, Bayern defender Javi Martinez had some glowing remarks for the German-American youngster. "[Green] is a young kid, with lots of potential, and for sure he will play well," Martinez said. "He is very fast, he battles hard, moves well and scores goals. A very dynamic player. I think that this year he will get many opportunities." -Javi Martinez; Source: ESPNFC Despite appearing in a UEFA Champions League match last season, Green has never played in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich. His only five league appearances came in his very forgettable loan spell with Hamburg during the 2014-15 season. It remains to be seen just how many chances Green could get under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, but early signs are positive. However, Bayern are still Bayern and possess some of the most talented players in the world. Playing time will be hard to come by, but it appears as if he'll at least have an opportunity this season.
