Game will be held January 22, 2011 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. Chile had already announced their roster: GOALKEEPERS: Paulo Garces(Universidad Católica), Raúl Olivares (Colo Colo) DEFENDERS: Lucas Dominguez(Audax Italiano), Luis Pedro Figueroa (Unión Española), Carlos Labrin(C.D. Huachipato), Paulo Magalhaes(Colo Colo), Eugenio Mena (Universidad Católica), Sebastian Toro (Colo Colo) MIDFIELDERS: Jose Pedro Fuenzalida (Colo Colo), Felipe Gutierrez (Universidad Católica), Fernando Meneses(Universidad Católica), Francisco Silva (Universidad Católica), Felipe Seymour (Universidad Católica) FORWARDS: Daud Gazale (Colo Colo), Esteban Paredes (Colo Colo), Edson Puch (Universidad Católica)
wow other than three guys everyone on their roster plays for either Colo Colo or Universidad Catolica. do those two teams just dominate the Chilean league? I've heard of Colo Colo before, but don't know much about it.
IIRC Colo and UC are the two top teams historically, but I am sure Chilean can give us a breakdown. Also to note is that Esteban Paredes is the only player with WC experience.
Colo Colo is the most successful Chilean club in history. It is also the most popular one. Universidad de Chile is the 2nd most popular and then Universidad Catolica. However U Catolica just won the league so they are doing better lately. I thought that was only the local players he was gonna bring, not sure if he was gonna call any international players. Also of note is the fact that Bielsa is going to be the manager for at least this game, his future with Chile is still up in the balance.
that and pretty much all of Chile wants him to stay so there is a lot of pressure to keep him. Also sucks that Pellegrini had taken a job right before all of it went down.
