Hodinkee has marked down a lot of their new stuff even more. Up to half off on some Oris and Zodiacs.
Went looking for one but the watch place I went to in belagio was in the process of becoming a Rolex boutique.
I’m such a thrifty super saver that I just can’t get my head around buying another Tudor at retail. Bought my Glasshütte and Girard Perregaux pre-owned. All of my cars have been 3+ year preowned too. It’s a sick relationship with money but I use it to rationalize purchases of depreciated assets that will hold their value.
Brother, I drive a 2011 Silverado with 220k miles on it. I probably own a dozen things worth more than my car.
thats a neat watch, I want to get an omega diver eventually but that price tag is steep at full retail
The case back is legit cool, I’ll admit. You have to see it in person. I just didn’t love it, I’m sure someone will. I passed.
Thinking about offloading this piece, as I just don’t wear it enough… no real need to sell, but figured I’d toss it out here & see if anyone is interested first before exploring alternatives. Full set & pristine condition. Don’t want to clog the thread so just DM me if there’s interest https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/...ial-master-chronometer-43-5-mm-21092442001001 Spoiler
got my wife the 36 version for her birthday. Should get me enough marital equity to get through football season.
Bit of a unique situation. Took me like 8 weeks after I went to the owner with a long list of watches that my family or I would buy at any time. That got his attention, and my understanding is that the Pepsi isn’t THAT hard to get in the scheme of things. So he was able to get it for me relatively easy.
I have a 36 as well. I have skinny wrists. My wife saw it and immediately said I’m wearing that as well.
Couple of nice FXDs today: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/s/C93avCXKNQ https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/s/mey7BkL34p

Meant to post this when I saw it, but I saw a dude wearing an OG Pogue the other day. He bought it new and has worn it as a daily driver for almost 50 years.
Going to take a little while to get used to it, feels like a kids watch after wearing the Deep Sea brick for a daily for a few years, but I think I can manage.
Watch bros... I have a Seiko SKX033 that I've worn pretty much every day for the last 20+ years. It's been redone once (five years ago) by Seiko service center...has had some weird rotor stuff lately and died completely. 1. Is there a better place to send it for a rebuild (keeping in mind it's, at best, a $300 watch), 2. What's something comparable in price/quality I can buy as a backup? Perhaps more dressy. I don't mind a non-automatic. Would prefer c. 40mm like this since I'm not a big guy. Pic for attention, obviously a very unfussy watch-wearer. TIA.
If you’re in a big enough town/city, call a few independent jewelry stores and see if they have a watchmaker who does movement repairs. Prob your best bet and will be the least expensive in the end.
Why not just get a new Seiko? There's no way a service and new crystal would be cheaper than going that route. https://www.jomashop.com/filters/automatic-watches?gender=Men's|Unisex&manufacturer=Seiko
I’m in a similar situation with my SPB143 and agree. Just doesn’t seem worth it to service these movements, sadly.
Yeah, I know. I kinda like the 3 o'clock wind placement and some other things about this particular watch. Had it so long that I'm a little sentimental, etc.
I know we have a few guys that do seiko mods locally. I wonder if you could find one who could do a whole new movement cheaper along with a new crystal.
I’d imagine you can just get the movement on eBay & go to any local watchmaker to replace. Might be close to the cost of a new piece though, as others have mentioned.
That's a decent idea. The problem here in town is, as far as I know there's just a couple guys and they only do four figure and up watches. I actually visited one a few years ago and he suggested the Seiko service Center. Apparently it's just $125 there, but I don't know if that's a new movement or not.
Yeah, mine is the $125 since it's 7S26. But the bezel looks like shit and the crystal is fairly scratched. At this point, I'm wondering if I should just do a newer Seiko 5 pepsi that looks similar and try my hand at putting a new movement/crystal/bezel in the SKX033 and giving it to one of my sons. They like watches (both have decent Timex quartzes) and wear them all the time.
