I want a submariner. I live on the coast and do a lot of boating but not much diving but seems like it would be a good fit. Any reason not to go with this one vs another model? This thread is awesome and has me fired up about watches.
I looked at a handful of options but always kept thinking about a Sub. If that’s what you want, nothing will replace it in your head and you’ll end up buying two watches instead of one. There are various options to consider: Yachtmaster Omega Seamaster 300 heritage version Omega Seamaster Pro Glashutte Original SeaQ Blancpain 50 Fathoms Tudor Pelagos Tudor Black Bay I’m sure there are other options to consider but that was my list I was looking at. Really liked a few options too.
No joke, I watched no fewer than 10 different videos & most of them multiple times, to learn how to get the deployment off… Spoiler: The Culprit Spoiler: Push Here Ultimately a random post in a JLC forum set the clasp free. Ingenious design, if you can see the faint etching
The only “downside” is everyone you meet will assume it was purchased with your 1st big commission check. But, fuck them. It’s classic & timeless… just make sure you try it on, before you buy it or any watch.
No Time to Die Seamaster is my realistic grail watch that I will own one day. My totally unrealistic is a double red Sea Dweller. Yeah fucking right
the problem with all of the submariner alternatives is that you'll get your new watch (and many of them are nice) and you'll still finding yourself wanting a sub
If that’s what you want, don’t settle… But that goes for any timepiece. I’ve never ever had any regrets & Really only ever considered the alternatives
It’s moved into a “assemble clothing attire to wear” watch for me. It’s like a feather on the wrist. One of my favorite purchases so I highly recommend it
It’s beautiful & probably the SMP300 I should have purchased, but can’t get past 007 branding - I hate it.
Most of it is hidden or tough to spot. The back casing has the writing and the 007 is so small on the secondary clasp that sits under the wrist. I’m in your same boat of being picky about certain things that throw me off and once I tried it on in person and confirmed the branding wasn’t an eye sore I immediately made the decision to purchase.
Yeah, I know. It’s barely noticeable & irrational on my part. I just hate the 007 co-branding. The Bond 60th Anniversary piece is also beautiful… but for all the 007 stuff, to me
This was my mom’s watch . It doesn’t work any more. Gonna get it fixed and then give it to my wife. It’s a bit beat up . Maybe they can do something to clean it up a bit.
I’ve been trying to summon up the strength to buy the green for 8 months. Should have done it in France back in August
