Sounds like they will fit in perfectly in this organization. Two guys who can't hit and a live arm we will inevitably ruin.

Hard to judge too much without knowing what else was available but I'm quite underwhelmed.

Hey, on the plus side Herrera was a live arm that we DIDN'T ruin!

Sounds like we got a young arm and two utility players for our best pitcher which is indeed underwhelming.

14 saves 1.05 era on a shitty team is balling

    http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2018?list=was

Not expecting Robles, but rather get one good bat and a pitcher than 3 ok players.

No real headliner in this deal is a tad disappointing. At first look it seems underwhelming but I guess time will tell. None of their stat-lines, past or present, suggest more than everyday, average-regular upside. A 'trust the scouts' trade is scary because I haven't trusted our scouts for years.

Jackson Kowar looked incredible last night. The movement on that changeup is something else.

Maybe one of the 2 position player prospects will end up being stellar defensively and average to slightly above average offensively and the other will be pretty good defensively and one of the worst hitters in MLB. If that ends up being the case, I guess I'm okay with us dealing Greinke, err, Herrera away.

Sounds like we didnt get an elite prospect for Hererra bc Nationals took all the money on his contract.

It was a salary dump and we take what we could get.

One of the BP editors was on the radio earlier and he thought it was more just the going rate than salary considerations. His only reservation was really why so early and something better may have come along. I think the Royals were concerned that he might get hurt or slow down and that this was the maximum window Herarra was ever going to have this year.

I only heard the first few minutes so he may have elaborated more but here is the podcast of it. Craig Goldstein

Report: Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers will play game at TD Ameritrade Park before 2019 CWS
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals will play a regular-season game in Omaha the week before the 2019 College World Series opens, The Associated Press has learned.

Major League Baseball and the NCAA have been working to arrange a game as a kickoff event to the CWS, two people close to the situation told the AP on Wednesday on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss details. The MLB has not made an official announcement.

A news conference with MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is scheduled for Thursday at TD Ameritrade Park. The World-Herald will have a live stream of that announcement beginning at 2 p.m.

In February, MECA confirmed to The World-Herald that the MLB had begun initial discussions to play a regular-season game at TD Ameritrade Park in conjunction with the CWS. As World-Herald columnist Tom Shatel noted earlier this week, MLB has been trying to improve its relationship with college baseball.

The move would be similar to the regular-season games played in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in conjunction with the Little League World Series.

Guys, this team is amazing. Here are some stats from Rustin's newest piece on The Athletic:

    - 2-16 in June so far
    - scoring 2.1 runs per game in that span
    - being outscored 38-102 for a -64 run differential
    - .188 BA and .294 slg
    - scored 4 runs or fewer in a club record 14 straight games (and counting)
    - on pace for 114 losses, with 140 losses still possible

We might as well enjoy the ride!

He was a signability pick taken so we could throw $$ at Manaea, so his value was inflated by being over drafted anyway. I think he will end up being a tad above Replacement Level.

Sooooo, an awful lot of stories about us and that OSU. Even if they research it and feel he didn’t do anything wrong I don’t see how you can make that move from a PR standpoint.

I personally wouldn't sign him. But I also am a strong believer in if someone does the time and completes whatever punishment is given, they deserve a chance to rebuild their life and if you do the background check and think he's better now, I get it. But given the public eye a pro ballplayer lives in, not sure it's worth the PR headache.

I also struggle with how DM preaches that porn is bad but molestation is worthy of forgiveness.

Petro had an interesting thought today. If you wanted him, draft him in the last round and make a shitty offer to him, take it or leave it. If he doesn't, you still have his rights. As it is now, I think he will eventually receive a decent sized contract if a mini bidding war takes place. That being said, I think he may be too toxic for anyone to sign.
