family went on a cruise peak Lonely Island era. they had just dropped I’m on a Boat. much to my brothers’ and my delight it was a karaoke option. so obviously we went for it (being on a boat) thinking we’d bring the house down, maybe get signed? you never know who’s in the audience. we fucking nailed it. 100% committed, just having a blast on stage. but for some reason it did not land. at all. zero reaction from anyone other than confusion & looks of “why are they still doing this”. some people don’t appreciate art.
Rebel Yell -Billy Idol I absolutely nailed it at my brother’s bachelor party at a bar and got a few compliments, including from a 60+ year old women who I later found out owned the bar. She comped all of my drinks and tried to dance with me later that night.
To add to One last breath my other song is Wilson Phillips “Hold on”. my wife’s is “What’s up” by four non blondes
If there’s a young lass I’m looking to bed a duet of “Paradise by the Dashboard Lights” seems to get the job done. By minute 6 or so the whole bar gets into it.
Since You Been Gone is pretty good if you really commit to it. The Kelly Clarkson version, not the Rainbow one.
Wiki in quotes but always been kind of an urban legend it was about a girl at UF, it wasn't. Petty is still a god in his hometown of Gainesville.
My cousin and I were hammered one night and thought this was a good idea. He was Willie. I was Julio. Neither one of us can sing but it was a hit.
Best Elvis song imo although I might say I like Dwight Yoakam's version better which could be a hottake
My buddy does pony by ginuwine and there’s nothing that can make me laugh harder. He knows the dance moves from the video and everything. “You’re horny, let’s do it!”
the worst version of someone singing this was this way too overconfident white dude in Vegas. He realized it was way faster than he thought and butchered it. Then about a minute in, started trying to work the crowd by asking how everyone was doing tonight and then held the mic to the crowd and told them to “sing it, you know the words” Never heard a karaoke joint that silent
Africa - Toto it’s the only answer. I have only sung karaoke about 5 times total. 4 of them were Africa
One of my favorite songs of all time. Such a bizarre background with that artist and how her music wound up in Demme’s works.
