Saido Berahino ✔ @SBerahino Everyone waiting once again for the silly little spoilt boy to make same mistake so here you go. Goodnight all and thanks for the support 5:01 PM - 1 Feb 2016
We never sign anyone in January worth a shit (Alli aside, and he didn't come til the summer). You can add another 15-20m pounds of sales to this chart.
If the story you posted earlier about SB is true then I really feel for the guy. Caught in the middle of an owner vs manager feud. WBA seemingly can't sack Pulis because they are shitting themselves about relegation. And can't sell their top player out of fear that Pulis will make off with some of the money. SB has been known for being childish during all of this, but if this story is true then he may as well be a fucking saint. I would be furious, these 2 are ruining the career of one of England's top young strikers.
If Poch thinks we are good, then I guess I am good too. He has earned a little trust from us, I just really hope it doesn't bite us in the ass. That said, I certainly wouldn't have minded taking a punt on Doumbia or someone like that though. If we could have worked out a deal similar to the one Newcastle did it would be a no brainer.
Given his penchant for January dealing, I think our lack of moves speaks volumes of Levy's belief in this team and Poch. A striker or center back would obviously have been ideal, but I'm ok with not throwing around money just because we have it. This is a team with great chemistry and they genuinely seem to enjoy each other off the pitch as well, so why mess with a good thing? Hopefully Wimmer/Dier can hold things down in the back until Jan is healthy again and our wingers continue to supplement Harry's scoring. Fingers crossed...
We potentially have 28 games remaining in all competitions (9 Europa, 4 FA Cup, 15 Premier League). Not signing another striker is going to seriously hinder our ability to compete across all three competitions.
It's a calculated risk for sure, but signing someone like Berahino for 40m is awful business for a club of our stature. The January window is though...
I don't see why not. He has chipped in goals on a consistent basis since the start of last season. If we need to give Kane a rest there is no reason not to give him a whirl in addition to Son. He was a member of the starting XI before his injury, and given his play since returning is going to be wanting more and more of his playing time back.
At 6'2" 187 lbs he's a more natural striker build than a winger. Also forgot he snagged 11 PL goals last year. Rooney, Silva, and Pelle tied for 10th in scoring last season with 12 goals each.
Hope we get out of Europa this round. Don't give a shit about that tournament now need to concentrate on finishing top 4.
Most clubs do not have a legit number 2 striker. When you look at who we available to fit in, I would prefer them to most strikers who sit on the bench for other teams... Onomah Son Chadli N'Jie (if he comes back)
We've shown to be better equipped to play on the weekend following Europa action so far this season, so with the winner getting an auto spot in CL I don't think you can just dismiss it like previous seasons. I think we should rotate in some of the fringe players and if we get to the quarterfinals then give it a real go. This team needs to learn how to actually win competitions.
Tottenham Hotspur @SpursOfficial 9m9 minutes ago #THFC team: Lloris (c), Walker, Alderweireld, Wimmer, Rose; Dembele, Dier; Alli, Eriksen, Son; Kane #COYS Tottenham Hotspur @SpursOfficial 9m9 minutes ago #THFC subs: Vorm, Davies, Trippier, Bentaleb, Carroll, Chadli, Lamela #COYS interesting move with son starting
Son did start the last league match. It is nice having chadli on the bench if we need an offensive spark. Dier dembele midfield is the best midfield
I've never seen our attackers win so many uncontested long balls. We need to take advantage of this nonchalance by the Norwich defense.
Fuck yeah, Alli causing all kinds of issues in the box. Great incisive passing leading to the Kane chance.
Chadli on for an under the weather Alli at half, he deserves some minutes anyway. Really would be ideal for results at Arsenal and Leicester to hold.
Toby looked good in the cup games he played without Jan, but today is a whole different ball game. Both of the center backs have been shaky. We need a 3rd.
Up to 3rd, ahead of Arsenal on GD. I never thought I'd live to see the day where we had a plus 25 GD, the best in the league.
Man City/Leicester City this weekend. We of course have Watford. Chance to move into second. What is this world? Edit: LC win, move to second but 5 points off Leicester, MC win, 2 points off the lead, draw, 3 points off the lead. So long as we handle our business, we inch closer.
new deal for onomah Tottenham Hotspur @SpursOfficial 2m2 minutes ago We are delighted to announce that @Joshuaonomah10 has signed a new contract with the Club until 2020. #COYS
Aaron Lennon has taken the early lead in the Tottenham Winger Castoff Derby. Still another half to play though.
