White Tahoe driving Roswellian here - I sense a lot of anger by those living in places lacking big mom butts, and I get your frustration. Anyways - Anyone going to Tool in a few weeks? Been a while since I've seen them. I recently listened to their latest album again and liked it a lot more than I remembered.
Glad I’m not the only one to experience the Marcel drop off. Been about 6 times over the years and always listed it 1a to my 1b of Rathbuns. Went a couple of months ago and the steak was very meh. Cooked perfectly but just wasn’t flavorful. Was very disappointed. Rest of it was still awesome and the burger is comically good (always get that as an app). My rankings after latest Marcel experience. Still giving them some benefit of the doubt because all the previous times were great. Kevin Rathbun Steak Bones Little Alley Marcel Hal’s
I’ve only been late night, and it’s basically a dance club at that point. Food is legit, you can get hookahs if you’re into that, and it’s just fun as hell. They’ve always got a pretty big brunch crowd on Sundays, too.
Just looked at their drink menu.. drinks are classified as strong, very strong and lethal. One of the lethal options is called "DUI." I
Don’t forget orgasm and blue mutha shut yo mouth you can even mix the two for a mutha fxxxing orgasm!
I wonder if they're the reason Cirque closed. Seems like it's always 1 in 1 out with daiquiri spots (cirque opened on the heels of wet Willie's closing a few years ago)
Heading down to the ASW Whiskey Exchange in West End for a comedy show coming up. Anyone got any recommendations for dinner in that area in case I really like the whiskey? Don't have much recent familiarities with that area.
That was the first thing that caught my eye, but looks like they close at 9. Show starts at 7 which is crazy for ATL, so it'll have to be after.
My daycare closed. They basically follow APS. This shit is absurd. Can't they just look outside at 6am and see if it's fucking snowing? The chance of precipitation is only like 60% too
schools on the Southside are making the call at 6 a.m. hard for parents to make arrangements at that point though.
Saw that. It's a shame. haven't been to Vortex in forever, but Taco Mac food has become absolute trash
was talking to an employee at the new record store in EAV, and the barcade next to flatiron is supposed to open in the next month or so. Lots of cool stuff moving into the area.
Yeah, and the record store is adjacent to it on the right. Pretty small but they have a good selection and some old SNES/N64 games.
Same. Once we had a kid the vortex and variety playhouse hasn’t really happened. Hopefully they don’t fuck it up too much.
Atlanta adjacent question: Going to Athens tonight to the Georgia Theater. Any dinner/beer recs? Looking more casual.
On top of what Fran said, Creature Comforts brewery is walkable from there. Globe, the Place, and Trapeze are also good options. Ted's that Fran mentioned might be a good spot if you're in a pinch for time - they can usually get you in and out pretty quick, even on game days. Some people in town will tell you Little Italy, but don't do that. All that aside, the Blind Pig may be preferable to the Alabama palate.
Trapeze is good for beer around there for sure, I also like South Kitchen for good good thats not super fancy.
Trapeze rules. Belgian fries, boiled peanuts, double pig sandwich, fish & chips all are killer. Awesome beer menu too.
I've had a couple mediocre experiences there recently that's gotten me a little that it's on the downslide. Glad to hear others still pushing it, so hopefully it was just randomness.
I haven’t been in almost a year, as I’m usually just in town for the day and rotate between Cali n Tito’s, Tlaloc, Sr Sol, and Kelly’s. That would suck if it’s beginning to go downhill.
Never been to Thinking Man, but it looks interesting. You know what night Midway's is? That was my first thought, but I don't see anything about it on the website
Almost died once from food poisoning at Thinking Man, which is a bummer because I really wanted to like the place. Midway is a go-to for sure.
No mention of arnettes for steak? Smaller menu but always damn good, the round mound was at the table next to me last time I was there. omakase table> mujo imo. Worth the money and chef yu is the man.
High pressure days like today where it’s cold as hell but there’s plenty of sun and a bluebird sky are my absolute favorite
