50% for either metric would be considered decent offense creation. 45% would be bad. 36% is terrible.
He's being used in all the bad situations (starting in defensive zone, against top lines, etc). Basically since he's the only competent defenseman he's being asked to just basically hold us afloat defensively while just dumping the puck out of the zone instead of actually being used in situations where he can do anything offensive
Chiarot: He’s probably not movable but teams love him so if we got creative it’s possible. I also assume Yzerman doesn’t want to trade him because fuck us. Petry: Literally not movable. My hope is he’s the 7th D next year but I am sure he will still play a ton. Maata: Easy to trade if we want to go down that path. Holl: Will be traded with a big sweetener at full cost, traded with a lesser sweetener with money retained or bought out. I just shudder thinking about how Yzerman will replace these guys.
Larkin is skating today. I bet he guts it out tomorrow, gets cheap shotted and everyone stands around wondering what happened.
Assuming this really goes off a cliff, I think you really need to bring up AlJo and Edvinsson and gauge if you can rely on them next year. If two of Edvinsson/Wallinder/AlJo are not ready to play next year, then the discussion starts turning to our draft and prospects. Think next year you bring back Walman and Seider, promote two of the guys I mentioned and go all out for a top pairing guy via trade/fa. Other two spots will be filled likely by two of the guys we can't dump
That should happen but Yzerman has shown zero inclination in veering off his current path. I give him credit for his stubbornness I guess.
A couple weeks ago my brother put money on the wings to win it all. People are blaming this mess on the trash patch, but you guys should know it was his fault. He's also a Detroit native who decided to be a Packers fan for no good reason. He's the worst.
And ottawa just took a late lead on islanders. If they can get a boost from Larkin return, they still could have a fighting chance. But I'm not getting my hopes up yet
It’s amazing Detroit is still in the race at all. They don’t deserve shit but it’s still there for the taking.
He’s the best goalie in the world for his age group, seems like that is on schedule for what we want in his development.
Danielson with 3+4=7 in a couple games this weekend. Gotta hope him and Kasper turn into better versions of Comp and Copp
One more year in college. Cossa’s last year in the AHL playing 50 games. Then Trey takes the reins in GR.
Raymond’s play so far tonight shows how misleading +/- is as a stat. He’s been all over these passing lanes.
lol that was pretty embarrassing. Don’t get a good luck on a 4 on 1 and then immediately take an Ozone penalty? Woof.
So is Larkin this important to the team? Complete night and day difference with him in/out of the lineup.
At this point there are two reasonable explanations: 1. Yzerman has known this teams success was smoke and mirrors and he doesn’t want to expose any kids to this mess (honestly starting to lean this way) 2. Yzerman is stubborn as hell
Partly. Raymond’s line is the only one winning matchups routinely without Larkin, so we are outclassed up front and on the back end most of the game. But Lyon has been a sieve and Larkin can only do so much to make up the difference there.
Yzerman was adamant he wanted to acquire vets to hold down spots until the kids were ready, but man the vets he signed are bad and they all have term. Which begs the question of when the hell he thinks a lot of these kids will ready? And with how things are going, how the hell is he going to know?
