No excuses for Edvinsson to not stay up the rest of the season. He was very sold last night, which is a massive improvement over what we have been seeing.
What’s crazy about Raymond right now is he’s still not scoring much at all on the Power Play. For comparison, Kane has 13 PP points in 38 games while Raymond has 15 in 68 games. A big part of that is Raymond being on the second unit. With Larkin out and Raymond moving to the bumper, he has 4 PP goals during this recent stretch. Raymond will be a PPG player next season.
Made a couple outlet passes and puck carries that were noticeable in a good way. Bite the bullet, he needs to stay.
Missed the second half of the third but was Edvinsson not our second best D last night? Shame he won’t be eligible for the Calder next year.
Trade for Markstrom (easier said than done), roll with he and Lyon next season. Give Cossa 45-50 starts in GR with Hutchinson back as his backup. In 2025 have Markstrom and Cossa as your tandem, with Augustine and Gylander or a vet in GR. In 2026 Cossa is the man with Markstrom gone. Augustine is the guy in GR.
Obviously every game is massive the rest of the way. But 2 of the next 3, are vs Islanders and Caps (Preds sandwiched in between).
That seemed like a bad goalie interference call on Compher. Sure seemed like he was tripped into the goalie.
DeToxRox How long so you think until Danielson and Kasper are on the team? And where do they slot in? Ideally, they become 2C and 3C eventually. But we still have Copp and Compher for 4 and 5 more years iirc. Do the kids bump out to a wing to start?
A lot depends on who comes back and what Raymond and Seider’s next deals look like. At a minimum I think one of the two are up next year. I still lean towards it being Danielson because I think he’s going to offer more as a winger to start. If Mo and Raymond both get 8 year deals we probably have both on the opening night roster (with good camps of course) because we will need several ELC guys to round out the team.
I feel like Mazur has to be close, just seems to have a high floor and predictable impact in a bottom 6 role.
Yep, I agree. I just have no idea at this point when Yzerman will believe kids are ready. I almost have to believe it to see it.
The more I think about the more annoyed I am that we didn't trade Berggren. I just don't see anywhere for him to play if he's not in form to crack our top 6. Obviously it can still get done, and you need a trade partner to do anything, but his stock seemed pretty high during his AHL tear.
In a summer when the best potential rookies were injured, played themselves off the roster last year, have a 3rd pairing ceiling or spent last year with the University of Denver.
Danielson earned at least nine games based on his preseason play. There was no excuse for him to go right back to Brandon, other than he was blocked by a bunch of vets.
Berggren doesn’t need to be a first line player. Middle six is just fine for his skill set and abilities a la Nyquist and Tatar.
I don’t see how we have Danielson and Kasper in the opening lineup unless we make a lot of moves. We’re talking two signed vets and Berggren and AlJo.
We have seen how guys like Kasper have struggled. Danielson isn’t ready. A guy his age and with his supposed skill set should be dominating the WHL. compare his stats to Dvorsky and it’s not even close.
