Well in all likelihood MM will fall...there's a zero percent chance of it not being better than Avatar though

 

I'm not really going by metrics bill James. I'm just speaking in general terms. Everyone thought avatar was going to be the greatest movie ever. It fucking sucked.

But in general I don't care if this movie doesnt live up to the reviews. Its a summer action movie and I can live with it being a cult classic action sploogefest.

 

This is a significantly different situation than Avatar...Avatar had never before seen technology and it was amazing in that sense, but yes the movie was terrible.

 

Hype-wise? Yeah avatar had more press.

 

This should be the suggestion for every movie.

 

That's pretty irrelevant...Avatar got good reviews because it was a novelty...I really don't see how this movie could not kick ass...it's fucking Mad Max...there won't be some shitty Fern Gully underlying theme

 

I haven't been this excited for a movie since No Country For Old Men....and we all know how THAT went.

There's some movie topics that critics are generous with, there's no way that this is 1 of them. Thus, my expectations are sky high and expect them to be fulfilled.

The movie critic on a local radio show was absolutely raving about it.

He apparently has an Oscar vote and said he's gong to nominate it for best picture

Just got back from the theater (it came out on the 14th here)

Go see this right away. Watch it multiple times.

It's like riding a massive roller coaster for 2 hours after chugging four Red Bulls.

 

I thought Skyfall or TDK would be the highest ranked major studio pure action movie ever. MM:FR is going to blow it out of the water.

Nah, straight 2D for me. Might try out 3D on a rewatch.

Not sure it needs it, to be honest, but if there was a movie I would want to experience in 3D, this would probably be it.

There's really no need, the film stands on its own. The parts you may need to know about are so heavily implied that you'll figure it out.

 

What about the theaters at Universal City Walk(?)?

 

I would think Mad Max 2 would really be the only one you might want to see beforehand, but the story is pretty bare bones...just wiki the first one and you might as well wiki the rest...there's really nothing much to be spoiled
