I didnt start until like september but I got on a big roll in the last 2 months and cranked out the third in probably 2-3 weeks... I only brought 1-3 to school with me because they are such large books so now I have to wait like a week till I get home for thanksgiving break to start AFFC
1 stone = 14 pounds 1 league = ~3.5 miles (derived from the distance one can walk in an hour) 1 fathom = 6 feet those are the only old timey measurements in the book that I know.
I think fire would be pretty effective against the others, too. I may be remembering this wrong, but when Sam killed one didn't it melt into a puddle of water? Fire seems like it would be a great weapon against an army of ice people. If only there was someone in the world that had control of giant mobile weapons that produced fire.
Dragon fire different that normal fire. Dragon glass melted the other not just a torch. Not saying you are wrong, but we know dragon glass fucks up others and we know fire fucks up wights. Beyond that, I don't remember any examples of fire fucking up others or dragon glass fucking up wights.
I think fire will probably be somewhat of a nuisance to the Others, but it isn't going to really hurt them.
Finished ASOS a few minutes ago. I stopped reading for nearly 3 weeks after rw and arya's subsequent chapter. Someone was saying earlier there is a alternative reading order if you have AFFC and ADWD? How recommended is that, and where can I find that order?
I really rushed through ASOS and I'm thinking about rereading it in anticipation for the series. Feast for Crows is good, but you have to be patient getting used to the new POVs.
I am finishing up book 4 but just read through this thread bc I'm bored at work. I think HBO is going to break up book 3 into 2 seasons bc 1) there is so much shit to cover 2) it will give them a chance to stall while book 6 and hopefully 7 come out and 3) they can milk it for more money. I guess I kinda flew through book 1 and 2 bc I had already seen the TV episodes but I don't remember there being any mystery as to Jon's parents. Might go check out some of the links posted in here when I get home
Been rereading book 3 because im sick of waiting on season 3. Been a long time but so much I dont remember. I'm at the Davos chapter where hes brought from the dungeon. In it there's a part where Meli has stannis and 3 leeches filled with kings blood. Names 3 names as he throws them in the fire. i don't remember the order of these came in but damn if its not plain as shit the 2nd time through.
Yea bitch gets shit done Mel is towards the top of my list of women in ASOIAF that I would most like to fuck.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the chapter ended with the three names being uttered. That's how I had a bad feeling about Robb.
