finding a place to live in charleston has been exactly the nightmare i was worried it would be moving dec 15, haven't been able to find a place. Pickings are slim for houses, while developers seemed to have gone overboard with these $1500 / mo "luxury apartments"
Apartments are a last resort. i'm trying to avoid that. i've been looking at small houses in park circle, but they get snatched up within a day or two. A few weeks ago on a wednesday I had 4 houses lined up to look at, and by Friday they were all rented. I called a fellow yesterday who had put his house up for rent the day before, and he had 2 applications already. There's plenty of affordable stuff in West Ashley and James Island, it just takes 30-45 minutes to get to Daniel Island during rush hour. Mt. Pleasant is convenient, but a lot more expensive than I remember it being in the recent past. Basically I'm starting to think : If I can't find a little house in Park Circle, I'm probably going to end up in some old 1br/2br downtown.
Arkadin and others: so I am hearing tattooed moose for lunch and husk for dinner. I'm here for the weekend. I don't have reservations for hall's or husk; i think i am going to try just showing up at husk at like 5:30 (that's worked for me before). I'm here with my wife and son (16 month old), so not interested in bars, just food and tame fun. Thinking of going to the festival of lights. any other suggestions?
That has the potential to work at husk, but you might have to wait a while. Y'all, and your son, would like the lights but be prepared for traffic to be an absolute bitch. I saw something about toddler days at the museum, but I don't know anything about it.
solid move, I've done the show up at Husk at open to get a table, not on a Saturday, but suspect you won't have to wait toooo long
John Lewis just towed in his smokers from austin http://m.charlestoncitypaper.com/Eat/archives/2015/12/17/john-lewis-arsenal-of-smokers-has-arrived
Arkadin and anyone else Going to charleston for New Years with my girlfriend. Staying in an Air Bnb for a couple nights right near King street. Speak to me of where to eat, drink and what to see
husk husk husk The Ordinary Fig 167 Raw I've never been to but only heard sterling reviews. what part of King are you on?
Looks like it's on the corner of queen street and Philadelphia aly, guess it's not King street but looks very close
like, a block and a half from husk Ark speaks highly of the bar there, if I had money when living in sc I'd go hang out there for a few hours
i pmd him because i had a question for him but figured i'd drop this in here as well for anyone who might be looking on one day i'd go eat and drink on sullivans island, its an easy uber from downtown and the weather will be great for it. hell i'll meet you out there if you want. obstinate daughter is great for nicer food, though their shrimp roll is a fire $14 dollar lunch hometeam bbq is awesome, poes is great as well. for downtown eat at the tattooed moose, get the duck club. for a nicer dinner husk would be the best, but it might be all booked up. someone had success recently with some app that will notify you of canceled reservations. 167 raw has great food, real small fresh seafood market kind of place but the food is really good butcher and bee is awesome sandwiches, smoke bbq, monza, lee lee's hot kitchen, xiao bao biscuit are all moderately priced places more expensive places besides husk: the ordinary, halls (one of the best steakhouses in the country), FIG (james beard winner this year) cool places to hang out: stars upstairs, market pavilion rooftop, vendue inn rooftop, revelry breweing, edmunds oast (food is also really good here), husk bar next door to the restaurant (has a bangin bar menu as well, burger is insane), revelry brewing, tradesman brewing, and basically any bar that catches your eye on king street
my wife wants to move back to greenville or charleston think i'll subtly influence her to pick charleston
My dogwalker was hanging out with Shep last night at Stars, and presumably fucked him. I don't know how I feel about this.
I've realized more and more I've been around that kid a lot. I never remember who he is until people say his name
Moving to Charleston in January and will be living on James Island. Stoked to say the least. To the Charlestonians of TMB, which bars/venues would you recommend for a recent college grad? I'll be working downtown (lower Meeting/Queen) fwiw.
King street pretty much covers it. Plus the warehouse and the alley Shem Creek, Sullivan's Island. Some cool places on James island. smokey oak, the barrel, brick house Then all of Avondale is right there too
That just says you'd be hitting us up for recs Recs I can help, but I'm out of town having sex with killrbee7 in Florida this weekend
He's from here. This time last year my hammered friend confused him with Rob fowler and provided one of the most hilarious encounters I've ever seen at poes and hometeam
It went like this Couple of my friends are at poes, waiting on my friend who works there to get off Colbert walks in, friend is like 'weather man come on! They'll serve you!' They wouldn't serve him so he starts yelling 'weather man get out of here kitchens closed!' They walk across the street and meet us at home team and my friend keeps at it. Finally he looks at him and goes 'I'm not fucking rob fowler' We all died. Then he started trying to talk drinking politics with him
I've been before, yeah. It's really fun, but I'm not sure if the visibility would be very good on the SC coast anywhere.
Yeah I'm not trying to dive around here. Gonna be in Thailand and a few other places within the next year or so I'd like to dive
If you're going in a place like Thailand, you may not need to get certified. I know I went in Bermuda without certification. The extent of my training was our 16 year old guide telling me: "Don't freak out and you will be okay"
plan on taking a road trip in April, will be headed down I95, so to the experts where is a good place to buy fireworks?
Has anyone seen a concert at the Family Circle Cup Stadium/Volvo Stadium and if so how is it as a music venue? Alabama Shakes is playing there April 23
