I watched half of the second quarter. They were like 2-16 (in the time I watched) and turned the ball over on 2/3 of the possessions (for dunks) and I turned it off. Very surprised they won. Im starting to get worried we’re going to give Wiseman a stupid contract (stupid being more than 10m/y over 3)
We started two G League guys and actually played Buddy Boeheim tonight? 13 games left and we might not win a single one. I’m ok with them both being shut down for the year but I do not think Ausar having a blood clot issue is a good thing
If that was Stanley Umude reporting that Omari Sankofa was missing the rest of the season, I would not have noticed the difference.
He was a G Leaguer slated for a starting role. Because while the Pistons lack talent, they also lack available bodies
Think it's funny the discussion of pistons twitter is 1) how great Cade is, 2) "the core four" and whether to give them another year. Name another fanbase in another sport who would be salivating over players who just led their team to their two worst seasons in franchise history instead of discussing firing everyone involved in building this shit
I hope I’m wrong on Cade, but I don’t think he’s much more than a potential borderline all-star/ #3 guy for the Lakers (or other team with a star). We really got fucked by losing both Paolo and Wemby and ending up with Ivey and Ausar. Any talk of “Core 4” is dumb
I think Cade can be every bit the player Paolo is if he's healthy and actually has talent around him. Which both aren't guaranteed.
This draft is terrible and I don't get what is in it for us to keep Cade on the sidelines for "knee management" if that's all this is. Nothing is gained from this group once again losing every game by 20+ to close the string while fans get more and more apathetic.
Fwiw I don’t think playing Cade helps with the 20+ point losses or apathy. If anything they’re probably protecting him from additional criticism
If him playing isn't going to change the losses or apathy, not playing him isn't going to stop the criticism of him. Especially when they're going to give him a max extension this summer.
I realize they’re probably going to have to do it, but maxing him isn’t going to help this situation at all. Are there even any rumors that Troy is done? Why is Arn Tellem still employed? I read a fan blog the other day that said that Wiseman’s recent performance is bringing about questions in value between he and Duren and I can not stand it
Our fan base that is left is the crazies who refuse to believe everything is dogshit. I think you have to max cade and dump Weaver and see if someone else can build a competent roster around him. Alternative is a complete tear down again. But we aren't close regardless
I think my preference this offseason is 1. Fire Weaver, Arn, everyone you can. Let a new GM see if he can make a competent roster out of this mess with the fallback they already suck so it would be easy to transition to tanking if needed and blow it up again 2. Fire everyone and sell anyone with value and start over 3. What will probably happen, give the terrible people who got us in this mess another year
I think you can quickly shift from 1 to 2 which is why I'm OK with starting at 1. But whoever takes over has their work cut out for them
Option 2 doesn't help anyone. I don't care if you're down on Cade, Ivey, Duren and/or Ausar. Or all of them. Trading them now and starting over again accomplishes nothing unless you're trading them for better young players than they are. And those kinds of trades almost never happen.
The only guy someone could even try to argue in terms of his point is Cade, and that's just because he didn't play last year.
I am pretty sure we will draft the highest floor player possible and then sign a couple of completely fine vets for too much money so we can celebrate winning 30 games next season. I just don’t see a world where there is any meaningful coaching/FO turnover.
He was regarded as many by the best “young” asset available at the trade deadline. Rumored to have been the piece that NY refused to include in potential Donovan Mitchell trades. His rapid decline in playing time was mostly attributed to Thibs preference to playing the Villanova guys. I do not remember any indication he was injured, but he only managed to play 6 games for the Pistons and none of them well
Glad to see Troy Weaver get a much deserved promotion Edit: Nevermind this is an April Fools and my disdain for this franchise keeps making me a fools
Jam3s did a mailbag for The Athletic where said that he thinks Monty’s seat might be warmer than Weaver’s but doesn’t know that either are actually in jeopardy. He did say he heard rumblings we could hire a President of Basketball Ops that Weaver would report to, which seems like a hilarious option.
The fact that Weaver is not on the hot seat, as terrible as he is, shows the problems go much higher. This just isn't a serious organization. Absolute joke if the same crew is around next year. Not even worth getting angry about anymore, just reaching the sad next step where I just completely stop giving them any interest at all
