end credits were just incredible Spoiler I've waited my entire life to see that scene of a hand drawn deadpool jerk off a unicorn to shoot rainbows out of its horn and I didn't even know it
I think it's fine for a teenager. There were like 10 year olds at my showing. That's a little too young.
It was everything I hoped it would be. They nailed the tone of the character to perfection. God's Perfect Idiot was born for this. 10/10
would i enjoy it if i've never read comics and barely know the characters? i know nothing of colossus and have never heard of nerawolf or whatever the girl is called. i am a huge ryan reynolds fan, though. definitely, maybe reynolds.
Somewhat proud of my girl. She bought the tix and understood every reference except: Spoiler 1. Stewart or McAvoy and 2. The Ferris Bueller end-credits
New projections have Deadpool sitting at around $130 million after the long weekend. Initial projections were $60-65 million. Unreal.
Yep, it's Thurs-Sun haul is projected to be more than Winter Soldier or GotG, and that's with no 3D ticket prices for Deadpool either.
this just further proves one thing, make a movie that the FANS want to see and you'll do fine regardless of how obscure the studio thinks it is (Guardians, Deadpool etc). the opposite end of the spectrum is Amazing Spiderman 2, Fanastic 4... I really hope the bigger budget for Deadpool 2 won't work against it with Fox butting in to "play it safe"
It's amazing that FOX greenlit this and stayed out of the movie. They're known for being too involved with the X-Men and F4 franchises, so we gotta pray they steer clear for the sequel. Kinberg only produced. I hope they make any X-Force movies Rated R as well. Sony is well known for pissing of Raimi with Spider-Man 3.
Reynolds is so passionate about this character. I honestly think he would walk the moment some suit at Fox tried to fuck with the tone of the sequel.
Why would everyone clamor for a bigger budget? It sounds like the movie did a great job of scaling down the Marvel universe... AND its margins are going to be enormous. If I were them, I would say keep doing you, friends.
Studios like to get more involved in sequels after the first is a hit. Fox has now had two big R Rated hits in the last year with Kingsman and Deadpool, hopefully they continue this formula of getting freedom to the film makers.
Spoiler Wade takes a strap on right up mainstreet. Not in the mood to have that discussion with my kid.
Spoiler “Cancer is a shit show, like Yakov Smirnoff opening for Spin Doctors at the Iowa State Fair kind of shit show.”
Colossus may have been my favorite part of the movie. His Captain America type of Boy Scout mentality played perfectly opposite Deadpool and the movie in general.
Felt like they were trying to work in someone like this guy with the guy from Jacksonville that deadpool didn't kill
“@ERCboxoffice: DEADPOOL absolutely killed it this weekend, punishing the box office to the tune of $135M, $150M for the extended weekend.” “@ERCboxoffice: With an opening of $135M, DEADPOOL just debuted higher than any X-MEN film ever has.” “@ERCboxoffice: Redemption. Ryan Reynold's DEADPOOL debuted with $135M--topping the entire run of GREEN LANTERN.”
I loved all of the nicknames for the cast but my favorite was Spoiler Stan Lee as "Gratuitous Cameo". also Stan Lee as the strip club DJ was a very nice touch
Box Office: ‘Deadpool’ Racks Up Massive $260 Million Globally COURTESY OF 20TH CENTURY FOX FEBRUARY 14, 2016 | 01:05PM PT Brent Lang Senior Film and Media Reporter@BrentALang “Deadpool’s” genre-bending brand of humor crossed cultural barriers this weekend, as the comic book movie racked up a massive $125 million overseas. Combined with its record-shattering domestic launch, that pushes the superhero film’s worldwide haul to $260 million. “Deadpool” roared to first place in 60 foreign markets giving Fox, the studio behind the $58 million production, plenty to celebrate. Among the milestones, the film was the studio’s biggest opening in roughly a dozen markets, including Australia where it made $10 million, Taiwan with $8.2 million, Brazil with $5.9 million, and Hong Kong with a $3.8 million debut. Ryan Reynolds stars in “Deadpool” as a mercenary with an accelerated ability to heal and a few screws loose. Newcomer Tim Miller directs the adaptation of the Marvel Comics character. The film unspooled in roughly 80% of the international marketplace. It opens in Italy, Spain, South Korea and the Middle East next weekend and will debut in Japan in June. The film’s spicy sensibility and hard R-rating did limits its rollout. Its violence got it banned in China, the world’s second largest film market. Three Chinese releases did banner business this weekend. Science-fiction fantasy “The Mermaid” racked up $109 million. It has made $260 million since opening two weeks ago. And a pair of sequels, “The Monkey King 2” and “From Vegas to Macau III,” earned $38 million and $36 million, respectively, for a third and fourth place finish. The international top five was rounded out by “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip,” which made $15.3 million across 52 markets. The family film has earned $192.2 million globally. “Zoolander 2” and “How to Be Single,” two new releases that were overshadowed by “Deadpool’s” outsized success, earned $8.5 million and $8.1 million, respectively. The male model satire has generated $24.1 million globally, while the romantic comedy has earned $26.8 million.
I can't imagine any film outperformed the opening weekend projections more than Deadpool. It more than doubled them. Not to mention the international gross. It's just insane. And all us fans are going to reap the rewards of it in the long run, since studios will be more willing to take on projects like this one.
