If you just do the bounties each day and the license questline you can do it in minimal time, it will just take about two weeks
it took me 112 races and to get my first 320 helmet. And winning SRL races once you get to a high level absolutely takes some skill. I clear oryx's bitch ass with ease 3x a week. I can hardly never win a race
Yeah, i just kind of embraced the grind. I can see where it would be off putting Now that I know each course like the back of my hand the higher races are a lot of fun and really competitive
But as pointed out, winning has nothing to do with rewards. Which was part of my complaint of the ridiculousness of the event. I'm tempted to just start SRL up, rubber band my R2 button and see what happens after a coupla hours and see what unearned loot I might get. It's great you guys enjoy it. Something as mind-numbing, repetitive and tedious as this just doesn't get me interested.
It's no more mind-numbing and tedious than anything else in destiny. "what are you doing today, destiny player?" "The same shit as before!" Difference this time is this isn't simply running around shooting shit which is great because every game these days is just shooting shit and i'm getting real fucking bored of it.

Having done both, I see completing more than a 100 races to get a 320 piece of gear as a more impressive achievement than beating hard mode war priest for multiple guaranteed 320s. Going off of my friends list of mostly 315+ dudes, hardly anyone has the kind of ocd to grind those races like that. I'm the only one so far to get to level 3. I've also been feeling the burn for many months now.
only legendary head and class items have light but certain other racing gear has racing perks so you want to wear those. The blue pieces are garbage though from what I can tell and get thrown away immediately.
I think they are much more rare. I feel like its maybe 4to1 with hemets and cloak drop rates. I got a 320 head almost as soon as i hit lvl 3 (112 races I think) and the rest around 315 and am about 1000 away from lvl 4. 316 cloak is all i've gotten so far. maybe leveling further improves the drop rates idk
Some guy hit rank 5 and pretty much said he didn't see any increased drop rate benefit at higher levels and it didn't guarantee the items being higher light after rank 3. I've had 2 320 helmets, a 319, 2 318s and a pile of helmets in the 314-316 range. I've gotten really low on marks from infusing everything
pretty much the same for me on helmets accept i've only gotten 1 320. I've gotten several cloaks though but no higher than 316

I just got on, did a sparrow race, started and quit the daily heroic because there's really no use until I can do a raid. I'm still a 296 with my highest ranked character.
So the oryx challenge is detonating all 16 orbs at once. Shouldn't be to bad for teams that are good at kill everything strategy but will force all the no knight teams to change.
It made sense to me when everyone was under leveled for hard mode, but yeah now that everyone is leveled up there is no reason to do it.
