How much does Weller Full Proof SBS generally go for ?

All in with tax, shipping etc. $137 I think. I got this on the NEBC discord group. This one guy is crazy and literally picked up 100 plus of these to give to people there and on the RC Clubhouse Facebook group at cost.

 

Cracked the RC Apricot Brandy finished bottle tonight. This defies my dislike of finished whiskey. It is really tasty.

It’s really good, just a hint of that turkey funk, but cherry throughout, the finish leaves a little to be desired but I can live with it.

 

It's not the longest finish I've ever had but it definitely doesn't dissipate quickly.

Is Rare Character priced as absurdly as Willett purple tops?

 

Bottom tier no…Exceptional Series and Brook Hill? Yes

 

They had some Exceptional Series up for grabs in NEBC the other day but I'm not a big fan of single malts so I passed. I think it was a little over $200 for that one.

 

I don’t know a lot about rc, what exactly is exceptional and brook hill?

 

Good decision. That one was the lowest proof I have ever seen and also more expensive than most you can get on a daily basis.

 

Most RC single barrels can be had for $95-110 + Shipping. Exceptional mostly goes for $160-225 if you can find them at a store online or locally. Brook Hill is $300 retail and can be had for around $500-650 secondary.

 

That was another reason I skipped it. Was below 100 proof.

 

I own one 103 proof Exceptional and while it is good, part of the allure is 125 plus proof.

 

For those interested in Rare Character, I would recommend trying to find a TKO rye if you can right now. You can probably get them for less than $130 with shipping. They are all high proof and absolutely delicious. They are rumored to be Dickel rye aged at Green River.

The other 2 that are somewhat available are the HR7's and the KBT's. I am not a huge KBT fanboy, but many people love them. All of these should be reasonably affordable. Depending upon what state you live I would just search Rare Character and the barrel code and there is a good chance you can find them.

 

I saw people talking about TKO in that group.

Unfortunately I don't believe Rare Character makes it to Texas and definitely not Oklahoma. Not that I've seen anyway.

 

What about RIO barrels (I think that’s what I’ve seen)?

I’ve seen a bunch of TKO around town, too. Need to pick one up

 

send picks of whatever TKO you’ve get if you’re able to run them please. Would grab 1-2 more, they’re phenomenal.

 

RIO was one of the first releases, if not the first and they would be super hard to find at retail at this point. Never had one, as they are before I was aware of the brand, but supposed to be great. TKO (experimental Dickel rye juice aged at Green River), KBT (Buffalo trace mashbill #2 bourbon copied and aged at bardstown), HRY (high rye MGP less than 7 yr), HR7(High Rye MGP Bourb aged over 7 yr), and NIO (low rye MGP aged in Indiana) would be the most popular current offerings that aren’t finished in other barrels. If you see a TKO, definitely let us know. I can get rid of as many as you can buy.

 

I’m almost positive there a some RIOs sitting at a store down the street. I’ll check tomorrow.
