Private concert featuring Magna Carda (sign up for Sofar Sounds y'all), Wye Oak at Mohawk and I got some good job news. Come at me world.
I was at that show! Met him at SXSW show at the modern art museum in, I think, 2012. Totally sweet frenchy who I'm pretty sure pulled more quality ass that week than I have in my lifetime.
Nice! He was awesome that night. Emo's is awesome for electronic shows. Oh he definitely fucks. I met him through a girl i know who he banged lol. He told us the story about the first time he met Kanye West. Dude seems like just a normal person have extraordinary experiences. It isnt lost on him how awesome his life is which is always awesome to see
figured this may get more attention in the OFFICIAL thread. I'll be with the lady friend tonight but I'm down for a TMB brewski thursday night should be somewhere showing some preseason games and shit
Perfect. My last meeting wraps up around 3 PM tomorrow at St David's Medical Center on 32nd. Show me some cool shit in Austin TLAU
rain shuts this fucking city down. we'll figure something out. typical thursday night shenanigans are cancelled due to weather
Let's say a young professional was looking to relocate to Austin. What areas should one look to live? What does a typical 1 bed cost in that area? General cost of living? Pros/cons on moving to the city?
downtown: ~1800/mo for ~600-700sqft mile or two south or east: ~$1200-1500 for same size not sure about north around the domain but that's basically the 2nd downtown with a good entertainment district. some other posters ITT live around there and could give estimates. Rest of expenses are comparable to atlanta/nashville. Pros: music scene, pussy game strong, outdoors/nature stuff, entertainment in general (some random city-wide fest almost every weekend) both on weeknights and weekends, huge young professional demographic, good "foodie" city, overall montra of having an active lifestyle for people on up into their 50s-60s, really dog friendly city. Cons: housing costs. hot as fuck. traffic. and depending on your politics could be a pro or a con: super liberal. according to the gays Austin is the #2 LBGT city in america behind SF The liberal/LBGT is only really a con if you make it that way.
The political element isn't what sucks about Austin, and frankly gay people are usually clean and polite and generally add nice businesses and restaurants to cities. Its just the dirtbag hipster emo types that are terrible. If those people left, this would be the greatest city in America. As it stands, their nastiness isn't enough to make it an unattractive place, no matter how hard they try.
Yea the complaints that people in the southeast typically voice regularly in big cities about demographics like gays and minorities don't apply here in my experiences. there's never been a "i was driving down _____ street and feared for my life" or "I went to _____ club and was so uncomfortable". I haven't even really had any negative experiences with hipster/emos. But I don't go out on the east side. Been on a few dates with girls from that demographic and we don't have as much in common but they're still cool. One of them I actually had a good fling with and it was divulged to me that the emo/hipster crowd in the mid-late 20s and early 30s is also a high percentage of swingers. posted a pretty hilarious picture in the donor dating thread a couple years ago of a groupsex (3 girls 1 guy) orgy that the hipster chick sent me to try and get me to join. for some reason I declined I'm still not sure why
The east side was pretty rough when I was in school, plenty of violence back then over there but the people that lived there have pretty much been priced out of the city. In ten years that entire area is going to be fully gentrified. Crazy really.
work wife is moving to one of those complexes in domain and I think she said its around $1300-1400 for 1br
sweet sweet taco jesus this is glorious. have a dozen of these and bloody mary bar lined up for saturday morning. #blessed http://austin.eater.com/2016/8/30/12708852/valentinas-tex-mex-bbq-breakfast-taco-hot-dish Spoiler: son this is how babies are made
Lived five minutes from Valentina's while in grad school...had no idea about it until I had two months left. Needless to say I went there like 10 times in those two months
is Hotel San Jose worth a shit? Always see Facebook events that lots of hot girls I'm friends with are "interested in" or attending there. Have walked by it before and it looked real small. The Saturday hangover brunch looks enticing
Ive stayed there once and hung out for drinks many times on a saturday/sunday afternoon. its a pretty cool place I think
Not my type of joint but I can see it being real popular with the single slut crowd. Id definitely rec it to a single guy that has confirmed theres already lots of chicks there.
I was told they've gone downhill as of late, mostly due to the clientele. I went last year though and still want to go again.
Well that's no good. I went last year and loved it. I'll still give it a go. Hopefully it's still good.
didn't see a game thread for sunday night. where's anyone tailgating sunday? probably gonna get out in the mix for most of the afternoon/night. no idea where yet.
congrats what do you (and other fellow thread readers)? Marketing Manager at a nonprofit, myself. Work in Northwest Hills, next to Mt Bonnell.
maybe we should change the thread title so we dont have second threads popping up like we do now....?
Senior Cloud Solutions Specialist (oh the bullshit of my title is almost overwhelming) at one of the big tech firms. We have a bunch of offices but I am up on Parmer until we build out our big campus downtown
I think my job title is like Sr. Brand Manager. Long story short, I work in sustainability and philanthropy for a big-ass tech company. Work from home. Posting in my sweatpants, wuddup?
