Ah, south of the plaza is kind of the other way then. Probably don't want to look over there unless you're cool with a 30 minute drive in the morning.
Rivermarket is great. There's some nice new apartments over there and the blue line is an awesome bar.
Move to Lee's summit. It's where I grew up and I'm pretty sure there's a statue of me. Also they filmed Jesus camp there. Don't move there.
River Market is a closer, nice area. Most of the stuff out there is a little more on the expensive side, but there's probably enough variety in the area to find something good. Union Hill is kind of an up-and-coming area just South of your work too. Has a lot of modern apartments and shops currently being built, but other than that and Martini Corner (small street with a few semi-popular bars), the direct area is a bit dull. West Bottoms is relatively run-down and not much going on in the area, but you can find some really sweet hidden gems as far as living situations go, and it's just a hop over the highway to downtown KC.
hipsterjoe Can you afford this? http://www.pershinglofts.com/ Because the location couldn't be beat. My wife's cousin's coworker (no, that's not a Spaceballs joke) lives there and says they're phenomenal.
Moved when I was ten. Made that big an impression. But would have graduated in 2006. Friends on Facebook with some people from then.
I just assumed you were extremely wealthy and valued personal possessions and private property above everything else, like a true hipster.
The GF lives on the street with these houses http://history.hydeparkkc.org/index...walking-tour&catid=62:walking-tours&Itemid=62 It's hilarious having to drive down a street full of million dollar homes just to get to the duplexes at the end.
The rieger is at 20th and main and it takes my wife 10-15 mins to get there from brookside depending on the stop lights. You'll have a lot of options within 15 mins of there where you could get an alright sized house. You won't really find any new construction if that's your thing but there's a lot of cool old craftsman houses. When I was in school I lived in the Volker area and liked it. Could walk to the plaza/Westport and there were some fun bars/eats on west 39th. I bet prices have exploded over there with KUMed growing so much.
Nice. Some friends just moved to Coleman Highlands. Their house is super old but pretty awesome. And the neighborhood is fantastic.
Was at Dempsey's with some friends of mine that work at Cerner this weekend and it was basically a Cerner party. Fucking everyone works at Cerner.
We lived in the EBT building at 16th and walnut for two years. Loved it. It was cheap then but downtown has blown up so much its prob more now. You can get pretty good sized apts downtown and in the crossroads. Won't find houses there but you can walk to a lot of shit and the streetcar is a big game changer too. First fridays first of the month. Lots of bars and art galleries. Cool area of the city.
part of me wants to live downtown and part of me wants a house so I can put an arbor or a trallis of some sort in the backyard :3
Well it's a city man, good luck. I live 24 miles from down town and it's still plenty of hustle and bustle.
I'm not saying I need to live in total silence but I'm not sure if I can handle living right downtown but maybe it would be good for me to help branch out
I was talking to a real cool girl (seemingly) who was a travel rep. we had a falling out because I told her I donated to planned parenthood
Maybe she has a point "I think we have a lot in common. You look like you've had a few abortions. I've been responsible for a few myself. Why dont we go back to my place and if anything pops up later I'll make a donation to planned parenthood."
