eevee was super common before, and with this event it seems like someone at niantic is colorblind and thinks light brown is pink.
they seemed to have toned down the spawn rates significantly. I see like very little pink pokemon at home now, much more of my normals. at least I'm not drowning in useless Clefairy anymore. at this point I doubt I'll play the event much besides trying to double up candy I really want. still going to take a small 30 minute ride to the city next to me and see if I can snag a Porygon or Chansey but I'm doubtful. I've at least seen people talking about Chansey being there but I don't know where exactly.
so fun, chanseys now everywhere and i hatch one with my 10k egg. Still happy though as its a high IV one so it'll make for a good defender with some investment
I am walking my 1000 CP Chansey so I can evolve the bastard eventually. His evolution is going to be a beast in the gyms as a Gen 2 defender. Also have 400 Jiggly Puff candies now. Is there a move set with Wiggly Puff that makes him a good defender or even attacker?
Wiggly isn't for gyms. It is, however, the best prestiger in the game. you want one around 1000-1400 CP depending on how your gym communities are right now. Mine isn't quite so advanced so the nearly 1100 CP 98 IV one I have will stay that way for awhile and may get a few power ups here or there. Pound/Hyper Beam or Pound/Play Rough is the moveset of choice, anything else is very bad.
ayyyyyyy. fuck me he's got 337 HP at level 25, probably going to be my Blissey unless I find a way better IV along the way. at least the 75 Max Potions I've stockpiled finally have some use. was happy to snag the Porygon as well. oh and an 89 IV Flareon decided to appear down the block when I was coming back from getting those two.
OK last Q for a while since the Lick is new to me. is he worth a damn for anything? I am catching a ton and I don't know if I should be accumulating candies or not. By catching a lot I am also blowing thru blue and black balls.
should be 50 but some are arguing 100 but that's based on how stupid OP Blissey will likely be (think Chansey but with some actual attack). most likely it'll be 50 so you'll like want 80-100 candy depending on how high a level you can catch one so you can max it. I caught a level 25 above so I need probably like 80 candy to evolve it and make it hit 30 eventually if you're into that kind of gen 2 prepping. he's got a unique animation but that's about it. once you've filled your dex there's really no reason to catch more. https://pokeassistant.com/main/ivcalculator?locale=en fill in the stuff and go to the slider at the bottom and move the left slider up and down to see the values change. you can see theoretical max HP for a 100 and then Your Best will be the max for whatever IV you've got. What level are you and what CP pokes? I have had one in since Halloween in Colorado springs. And a few in Jax since December.
Just opened the app while sitting here at work and low and behold a Chance appeared first I've seen in the wild luckily I caught it. I'm so pumped it's almost sad, CP392 with Hyper Beam and Headbutt
So many Exeggcutes today.... Today has also been the nicest day weather-wise in weeks, 4 out of every 5 pokestops I saw had a charm on it
you won't at that level. I was 25 when I started being able to full play the gym game, you might need more depending on how active your city is for players. your heavy CP hitters are Dragonite, Snorlax, and Rhydon followed by Gyardos and Vaporeons. those are in or around 90-105 CP a level (depending on IV) which means at 25 you can have some 2400-2500 CP pokemon which shouldn't necessarily be bottom bitch in all gyms. my strategy at 25 was to focus my power-ups strictly on those guys so I had 3-5 maxed out pokemon early on and then you need to start hunting gyms. look for level 6-9 gyms your team has and see if you can fit a guy in the 2nd-4th lowest slots and stick them there and let the really high CP ones protect you. the other option is to scout out a small route of 2-4 gyms you know get taken down daily and just hit them one after the other, toss some garbage in there, and collect for the day. rinse and repeat. right now at 26 almost 27 I've got 2-3 attackers in gyms at all times and then I have another 2-3 gyms I just take down and instantly collect so I'm always getting 40-60 coins and all that stardust each day. the main point is to get that stuff each day regardless because it will add up over time and give you free bag spaces, free pokemon spaces, free incubators, and the stardust is hugely helpful as you go along. it gets easier the closer you get to 30. you probably don't have a lot of great stuff right now but you've been playing for so little. it takes 2 million XP to reach 30 and you cross 1 million halfway through 26 (I'm at 1,050,000 XP atm) so you have a lot more time than you think to build your armies and find more Snorlax and Dragonites and whatnot.
event's gotten me 2x Pound/HB and 1x Pound/Play Rough Wigglys so that's been very nice. what it hasn't gotten me is a good Confusion/Psychic Slowbro. I have like 7 now, one of which is C/P and that's because I caught it in the wild but the thing is like 1300 CP and I'm not wasting dust pumping it up that much. I guess I'll probably stop evolving them entirely just like Horsea because their gen 2 will change their moveset anyway. if I find the quality IV high levels Eggs I'll probably end up with about 12-15 Exeggutors when this event ends. also back up to 1200 Eevee candy and Pidgey candy is right behind it. going to have some good mass evolves coming the next time 2x XP happens. I will probably be able to do 350-400k just from Pidgeys alone which is basically an entire level from 28-30. dex is 145/151 Togetic - 7 candy Magneton - 8 candy Machamp - 64 candy Muk - 44 candy Hitmonchan Omastar - 30 candy Grimer/Muk apparently exist in my city so I stopped walking my Grimer and picked Togepi back up since it's so close. I saw a Muk alert happen not more than a week or so ago and Grimer's once a day or two so I'll just do it like that. Omastar will require a change of location, unfortunately, but its very doable eventually. Hitmonchan is legit the only thing I'll probably have to hatch.
My app has been laggy af lately. Sometimes it's almost unplayable, especially when trying to prestige gyms. Tried everything and can't fix it. Have yet to see a Chansey or Porygon in this event.
Level 30 put me 100 over bag capacity which stopped me from picking up eggs. Had to dump a bunch of crap.
had that happen when I hit 25. I'll have to plan better when I hit 30 because man do they give you a ton of shit. speaking of eggs I'm in 2k city right now since they switched up eggs. I kinda don't mind it while double candy is going as I'm getting some great candy for stuff I want to level like my new Golem but I've got five of them in my bag right now and they're appearing as fast as I can hatch them. saves me some gold on incubators at least but wish we had the option to buy a 2nd permanent incubator at this point. I'd gladly give them $20 or something.
yea, well, I got a Smoochum. Findings today include my 2nd 100 Exeggcute in as many days, a 98 Exeggcute (one is 220 CP the other is 400 CP, going to see what moves they get and decide what to do with them), 2nd Porygon, and 3rd Chansey, over 800 CP. and another Snorlax for fun. my city officially has 1 Porygon spawn. I set up a scan for the area after I caught my first one and it went off at 5 AM and 5 PM and I headed over to snag the later one. if that keeps going twice a day I may just be able to eek out the candy I'll need for Porygon2 or only need to walk like 4 candies worth. Chansey is far more widespread than I thought and pops up every 6-8 times a day somewhere.
there's a water biome in a big box store parking lot down the road from my grocery store that I like to check when I can for Magikarp and Dratini/Dragonair. there was a 2130 CP Vaporeon with Hydro Pump waiting for me. the IV isn't great (51, its actually got a 12 in attack) but with that CP and moveset it's already part of the Vape army. I'd seen one on the radar long ago driving home one night and now realize why I couldn't find it at the time I wasn't aware of that water biome since it's, you know, a parking lot. halfway to Porygon2, Blissey is assured. probably going to scale it back for the rest of the event but this was pretty good, especially for those of us who needed those dex spots filled. if the whole thing was nothing but double candy I'd still be thrilled.
it's the definite downside to the event. there seems to be a truce in my city as nobody is being a dick but I think if someone breaks the seal it'll be all-out Chansey warfare. there was a baller pic on TSR when the event started of how to use a Chansey properly where this guy took a level 2 gym and prestiged it up to 10 then dropped his Chansey.
