This Alex guy is crushing it but acting like he's stoned as hell. Trebek just told him he was 'acting weird'.
Didn't that guy Alex do that last year? Oh wait, are these the reruns from the season? it's the same dude with the curly hair, right?
Alex's strategy was unbeatable. When he would go on a run he would purposely pause and wait to answer until the last possible second to waste out the time of the round. Always worked in his favor but you could tell it was annoying Trebek to no end
Sitting in a hospital waiting room and it's on. Nearly sought out this thread to see if anyone was catching this. Fire.
Seth is a great player. I noticed a mistake just watching Friday's show....it was a clue about the deaths of John Belushi and Chris Farley. Said John's was in 1982 and Chris's was in 1992 which he actually died in 1997. I don't think I've ever seen a mistake like that before on the show.
That other kid thought for sure he had won. Meanwhile Sharath was sitting there with that smug indian math look on his face. The range of emotions on the other kid's face was incredible.
I've been hating on her for a week because of her mousy voice combined with the exclamation point. I felt pretty bad when I was complaining about her being on the tournament of champions and then realized she was the contestant who had died.
Daily watcher and every night I try to guess how many of the contestants are going to begin their reply to Alex's interview prompt with the word "so". Example: Alex: "I understand you were part of an interesting group of collectors?" Contestant: "So, I thought it would be fun to grow my vinyl collection..." Pretty much a guarantee that at least one does, often there are two, and on the special occasion all three will employ this lazy speech trend. I can't stand it.
It's scripted and they practice it. I'm with you though, horrible. My favorite is when they get a rambler than Alex can't get them to shut the fuck up. His faces are priceless because he literally only cares if his punchline will deliver.
It's not scripted. They ask you to write five interesting things about yourself, then he picks which one you are going to be asked about. Occasionally they tell you beforehand, but the majority of times they don't. That's as scripted as it gets. And you don't practice with him or the coordinators.
It's not. The contestants don't know what he's picking most of the time. That's why his corny one liners miss as often as they hit. Half the time the contestant takes the conversation in a direction he's not expecting and his premeditated response is a hard miss.
When I was on they told all of us what story he would be picking before we went out... but that's a very limited sample size.
