I was being hyperbolic but I feel sorry for anyone that really thinks stone, bell's and shit are great craft breweries
Recently had this for the first time, wouldn't put it on a top list of anything. Too strong, like drinking medicine
Assuming fresh, a local spot did a Dogfish Head night and had it on tap. I know most "big" beers do better with age but is that still the case with something as hop forward as an IPA?
Normally IPA's and DIPA's don't age well but this is an entirely different animal. I have a few bottles I bought 5-6 years ago in my closet.
was able to buy a ton of toppling goliath (and surly) in wisconsin. excited to break into it come fourth of july weekend.
I meant them chasing down customers for money when their employees rang up on site purchases wrong and being rude about it
Charging $500 for a beer huh? That's what makes them dicks, not the trying to collect what is owed part.
They got mad about secondary market so they responded by selling their onsite shit for similar prices punishing the customers that actually hang out and spend at the brewery for the experience while the bottle flippers keep making money. I get it but it's not a smart idea
I have not. When I was in school and we had class in ST I didn't venture too far past Brothers or Rohrs. I know it's lame but convenient when you are up on a hotel down the street.
A guy on a Husker board won the raffle last year for KBBS and said he'd be willing to sell his bottle. I sent him a PM asking how much and he said he wouldn't let it go for less than $1,000. I responded with a hearty LOL and left it at that.
Ended up with an extra bottle of Burial - BBA Seasoned Skillet Donut Stout, if anyone wants to trade let me know.
When you're in town again check it out. Their beer list is usually incredible considering the venue (a billiards bar that still allows smoking). Some of these beers I've never found anywhere else in the area https://www.beermenus.com/places/11000-bleachers-the-bar
I know it's a shameless plug, but if anyone ITT is in the Philadelphia area and out in West Chester, I'd recommend visiting Levante. They make a ton of high quality stuff. Jimmy the Saint can attest to their bourbon barrel aged imperial vanilla stout.
Need 1 brewery to visit in San Diego. There are a lot and I have time for 1. Which 1 do I visit? Ballast Point? Stone? Coronado? Ale Smith? Might be able to talk the misses into going to a second but she has her list of things to do and see and we have the kids. Brewery hopping is not too child friendly, although they do have iPads so there maybe a chance if Zach Zedalis texts her. She tends to listen to his magic beer advice.
Mikkeler, Modern Times, or Societe in my opinion. Never been to Ale Smith but wouldn't do any of the other 3. I like Stone but if you only have time for 1, I'd pick somewhere else.
