You do realize that over half of the crew weren't expected in the journey, right? They picked them up at east watch when they were in jail. "Lets get a bunch of weapons for dudes we don't know about"
So did the knights of the Vale. So did basically every other hero in this situation in every other movie and tv show. OMGOMFOMGKMF
I was thinking this too, but is there even anybody for them to fight right now? Dany has the dothraki standing down essentially while she's focused on the north, and the unsullied are chilling on land somewhere. Not much for a navy to do at the moment.
I think they all did have dragonglass weapons, but if you're an experienced fighter and are used to swinging a mighty axe (Tormund) or your favorite longsword (Hound) you probably think you'll be better off with your specialty weapon. Both Tormund and the Hound start off with their regular weapons, then switch to dragonglass weapons, so they had to have taken them along as backup. Beric needs to keep using his flaming sword, probably to lend a little color to the fight and to differentiate himself for the viewer in the chaotic battle scenes. Again, this kind of thing would have been cleared up with better editing. It's not like HBO cares if the show is an extra twenty seconds longer. In the wight bear scene it's a little hard to see who attacks the bear and then gets punished for it (other than Thoros, obviously), but it may be that Jorah was one of the fighters who closed, swung with a regular sword, and got clobbered for it. I'm pretty sure that Tormund got swiped away. It would make sense that Jorah, and older and perhaps wiser fighter, would see that his sword had no effect on the wight bear, and next time around went in with the lesser dragonglass dagger that finally subdued the bear. I do have a little problem with the choreography of that wight bear battle scene, as it seems like it took too long for everybody to get their licks in, seemingly one-by-one. When attacking a larger target like that, swarming is a better tactic than going in one-by-one at ten second intervals. I get that the Hound was frozen by his fire fear, but it's not like everybody else was 50 yards away; they were just all in a protective circle.
Found myself laughing a few times today just thinking about the Tormund-Hound conversation last night, wanna watch again mostly for that.
No, Stannis showed up when Jon went beyond the wall to meet with Mance and try to convince him to bend the knee. The Knights of the Vale showed up when all was lost in the Battle of the Bastards though
Thanks I couldn't remember. Thought something was about to go down and then they rode up and started cutting down wildlings.
OK would like to discuss the Brienne situation with some of my loyal watchers, as I was a bit confused -LF talks to Sansa, although he is a sneaky fuck this time I thought he actually thought he told her to chill about Arya b/c she was he sister and he didn't she wouldn't harm Sansa. Little shocked he went that route instead of pouring gas on the flames, but even goes so far to say Brienne would step in if and protect you someone tried to harm you. That is what I initially interpreted that conversation as, although I though LF was a bit open ended and it could have been interpreted a few other ways -But then Sansa goes and tells Brienne to buzz off. Basically does the opposite of what I thought LF suggested. Seems Sansa thought LF might have been suggesting (or she takes the initiative and does it on her own) that she remove Brienne so she won't be there to protect Arya, not her. Basically I thought she ended up doing the opposite of what I took LF to be suggesting, and removed Brienne from the equation so that she can make an attempt on Arya's life Am I totally wrong on this? Did I misread some of these exchanges, especially the LF/Sansa one?
I would have preferred the show use Bran to send ravens to Dragonstone/Dany, perhaps after seeing that the dream team was going to encounter the WW through his three eyed raven game genie. Could have made the timeline seems a little more realistic.
Said the same thing to my wife. That's the way it appeared to me. Hopefully they are pulling a con on LF though.
If Jon and Dany hookup and make a baby before anybody tells them they're aunt and nephew, I wonder if people may then decide not to tell them? I could see Sam making that decision, not sure what Bran is ever thinking.
I'm not sure the show hasnt made it clear yet, but Dany is barren Don't think they've mentioned it at all actually
She's barren until she fulfills the phrophecy. Which I think comes to pass in the season finale. Then it will get explained in season 8
Right, and it's not correct. The show would have actually attempted to show it coming to fruiting if so
The one i watched sunday morning was in 1080p, that's the only reason i watched early. i'll go fuck myself.
exactly. why didn't the 2 of them just hop on Drogon and fly north of the wall, show her the army and then dip out?
This is not as big of a deal as you make it out to be, there are plenty of married relatives in this show.
I think yes, they could take the dragon glass and make the weapons for each person going. I can't imagine it would take too too long from the little I know of Blacksmithing. Logically, that's probably what I would do -- make the weapon of choice for each person going with dragon glass given there was available time. That said, that wasn't my bullet, I was only trying to interpret. No need to be snarky.
I honestly think I'm going to eat serious crow on that one. But really, as long as they have a good reason for adding the tension between the sisters I'm fine with it. It's just kind of frustrating that Arya didn't even mention Littlefinger at all. "Why did you have Littlefinger find this letter?" just seems like the obvious thing to ask. I think Nelson, or whoever suggested that Arya is actually playing LF seems to me like what will actually happen.
Yea I know, but it's still frowned upon in a big chunk of the realm, as nicknames for Jaime would illustrate... so if somebody wanted to do them a solid for the betterment of the kingdom I could see that happening.
Marrying brother and sister is frowned upon, although not for the Targaryen, but plenty of the characters are married to cousins, like Tywin Lannister.
this is a stupid argument. It's irrelevant for starters, but they have the material and the skills needed to get those items relatively quickly? Why not just do it as a safety precaution regardless? Again, "time" is an acceptable answer here. This is such a non-issue to me, I'm not the one to argue with for trying to clarify what that redditor was saying. Shoot the messenger motherfuckers all up itt. Regardless, for the sake of pointing out how dumb your argument comment, here's your same comment in different contexts. "I'm not going to take malaria pills when we all go into the Amazon, because we can't all get malaria." "We don't need enough lifeboats for everyone on this ship. It won't sink!" There are plenty of legit counters to the dragonglass bullet, but yours was not one of them.
Why would Gilly fill him in? She couldn't even say Rhaegar's name right. She has no reason to ever bring that back up and Sam missed the mention. Even if he did re-discover it if they did bring that book with them it wouldn't be anything other than interesting to him since he has no idea that Rhaegar is Jon's real father. The annulment and secret wedding will have to be brought up either when Bran reveals Jon's true parentage to him and maybe Sam is there or sometime after Bran reveals it to Jon he talks to Sam about it and Sam just happens to remember Gilly mentioning something about it.
Or Sam and Gilly reach wherever Jon and Dany are (I'm sure they will all be in the same place soon), and Gilly hears Dany talking about Rhaegar and says something about the book, or maybe even Gilly hears the name of the dragon and asks where it came from.
