    Maisie Williams:

"Just finished reading season 7," she wrote, "s--t gets REAL."

In the course of five tweets, the actress went on to make the wait for the new season even more unbearable for fans of the show.

"I'd start preparing yourselves now," she continued. "Scratch that, nothing will prepare you for this."

"Game of Thrones" Season 7 is currently in production. The new season will be the show's penultimate.

Last month, HBO confirmed its Emmy-nominated series would conclude after Season 8.
The next season of the show is expected to debut in 2017 but will premiere later than usual.

I liked it wen I posted it, but the more I think about it, I think the majority of season 6 is Dany's takeover of westeros and then season 7 is humanity vs. white walkers... so season 7 probably ends with someone (Tyrion?) placing a crown on Dany's head standing over the corpse of the sister he just knifed.

Would Littlefinger on the iron throne be good or bad for westros? He is a backstabbing, conniving, liar who only looks out for himself, but I don't really feel like he would be a terrible King. At least not like burn your subjects terrible

HBO Looking For ‘The Right Take’ on Game of Thrones Spinoff
Television history is littered with spinoffs of popular series. From sitcom spinoffs like Mork & Mindy and Frasier to genre shows like Angel and Torchwood, repurposing existing characters for new TV shows has been a go-to way for TV execs to ring a little extra money out of successful properties. But what a show’s characters all get horribly murdered by the end of the series?

That’s one question that could face a potential spinoff of HBO’s Game of Thrones, given how many characters have been offed over previous seasons. Fear the Walking Dead sidestepped that issue by having the show take place in the same world as The Walking Dead but in a different part of the country with an entirely different set of characters. Would HBO follow a similar path, or might they have something else in mind for extending the longevity of their series?

HBO programming president Casey Bloys spoke to THR about the topic at the Westworldpremiere in Hollywood, and while he did not have any specifics to give about HBO’s plans, his comments made it clear it’s something that’s been on their minds. In the end, however, Bloys says the decision on how to proceed with a potential spinoff comes down to finding the right ideas and the right person to execute them:

“There are so many properties and areas to go to. For us, it’s about finding the right take with the right writer.”

That writer is not likely to be either David Benioff or D.B. Weiss, the show’s existing showrunners. They have indicated previously that they would not continue with the Game of Thrones universe once the current series is done. Bloys, however, is hopeful that once the stress of production wears off they might change their minds:

“You’re getting them right when they’re about to embark on production. It’s a big, big commitment for them, not just their creative force, but also their family life. They’re gone for months at a time. So it’s a big, big thing. But should we find a property that makes sense as a spinoff or a prequel — whatever you want to say — I would not expect them to do it, because they’re going to need to decompress for a good amount of time, but it would certainly be nice to have their involvement in some way. At what level? I have no idea.”

Of course, in the end Bloys wants what any TV exec with an eye on the bottom line would want, which is for his channel’s massive moneymaker to continue on indefinitely. When asked if HBO had any definitive plans for an eventual Game of Thrones spinoff, he offered his best case scenario:

“Not yet. There are things that sound interesting, but at this point, we have no writers assigned or anything like that. In a perfect world, Game of Thrones would keep going, and we wouldn’t have to deal with any of this!”

There are two abbreviated seasons left for Game of Thrones, and after that HBO will have to decide whether to let the show die peacefully or to invoke the magic of the Lord of Light to force it back to life. A Song of Ice and Fire writer George R.R. Martin has said that there is “a wealth of material” available on which to base additional stories set in Westeros, but time will tell if any of that material sees the light of day.

I don't think they'll go right into Robert's Rebellion I think they'll let this current show end and wear off a bit before they reset with new actors playing same (albeit younger) characters.

The show has been pretty ambiguous for reasons we are about to find out IMO

Roberts Rebellon also has only 4-5 major events and I can't really see them making more than 15 episodes for it, whereas there's a lot more material for a bunch of other things

HBO is gearing up for Game of Thrones to end with Season 8, but the network still hasn't formally renewed it for the final season.

HBO programming president Casey Bloys explained what the hold up is at the 2017 winter TV Critics Association press tour, saying it's a matter of finalizing the episode order for the final season.

“The only thing we’re working out is how many episodes they want to do,” Bloys told TVLine when asked why Season 8 hasn't been officially announced. “They’re still figuring it out because I think they’re trying to get a shape of the season."

Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have said that they want to do around six more hours of the series after the seven-episode Season 7. That led many to conclude Season 8 would be six episodes long, but recent comments have suggested that's still up in the air.

Bloys told TVLine he "hopes" Benioff and Weiss ultimately deliver more than six episodes for Season 8. "They always do what they think [will yield] the best version of the show. It’s all about how many they’re comfortable [with]," he said. "But I’ll always take more."

Game of Thrones: Season 7 will soon finish production and is slated for a summer 2017 premiere date. IGN asked Bloys when exactly in the summer TV season the series will air, to which he said, "Still up in the air, but I would say 'mid.'"

HBO is coming off the successful launch of another big genre series, Westworld, which was nominated for multiple Golden Globes and won several of IGN's Best of TV in 2016 awards. With the delayed return of Game of Thrones, we asked Bloys if there was any concern in the lull of quality sci-fi/fantasy programming on the network.

"My hope is Westworld will be in the first half of 2018. I've got two really great, big genre shows, but I don't want the whole slate to be all feeling like big sci-fi stuff, although they're two great shows," Bloys said. "We're trying to do other things like we have David Simon's show coming up, we're doing a family drama, Big Little Lies. I'm trying to have more variations in the slate. Hopefully sci-fi fans will be OK from the summer of '17 to sometime first half of '18 for Westworld."

Regarding a spinoff, the Doom of Valyria could make for an amazing series imo. I just don't know if it's to tertiary too characters the broader audience has already been introduced to for them to take that leap.

I doubt it. He's written about everything else except the rebellion except sprinkling in details throughout his novels. Honestly it's pretty boring stuff and wouldn't be more than 20 episodes.

    -Tourney at Harrenhal
    -Shortly after, Rhaegar 'kidnaps' Leanna
-Rickard and Brandon go to KL asking for Lyanna, get murdered by Aerys
-Stark, Arryn and Baratheon raise banners
    -Minor battles
    -Battle of Trident
    -Sacking of KL
    -Tower of Joy

It would be super expensive to produce and there's just not much story to be honest. It would make a good movie trilogy but I'd much rather get The Dance of Dragons first. If strictly thinking about television, give me Dunk and Egg. You could get 10-12 seasons of out that and stretch it out since there's minimal battling going on.

I think they can do a series about Robert's Rebellion even without much source material, the series would simply be based on it, we have seen that HBO has no problem going away from source material. Dance of the dragons would be too expensive to do and Dunk and Egg I'm just not sure how it would play out in a tv series where they'll cut out a lot of material.

After a few seasons they would need to recast. Dunk is 16 and Egg is like 7 at story 1. I've seen the outline and Egg gets coronated around story 7, where he's 20. So there's some gaps there. Story ends with Summerhall
