top drawer soccer did a pretty good podcast last week where they tried to project a future usmnt xi for anyone interested.
Thanks for the heads up. Will check that out https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-future-usmnt-xi/id1258828492?i=1000391929039&mt=2
they named a bunch of guys. each picked their own team and they tried not to duplicate any. some of the picks were guys i knew nothing about, especially the one guy picked a few college kids, but they both agreed Josh Sargent is the future along with Pulisic.
So since this aired, Lindsey has signed a homegrown deal. By the way, who is his dad. They said he was a football player (I think) DirtBall
I'm not for sure on the dad. I think his mom was a college soccer player or coach or something. Nice little RB prospect. His contract starts Jan 1 and he'll spend almost all of next year with the USL squad, same as Busio.
Sorry that should've said was not wasn't. One of the guys chose him as their RB of the future. The other chose Tyler Adams
Having just listened I remember: F: Both had Sargent. Can't remember who they had as their 2nd F. LW/LM: 1 had Andrew Carlson RW/RM: 1 had Brooks Lennon CM: Both had Weston McKinnie. 1 had Hyndman. LB: ? CB: 1 had Miazga and EPB, the other had CCV and ? RB: Adams and Lindsey GK: Steffen and Horvath
He said that since he's been playing as a sort of wing/wingback and the US has a clear need at fullback behind Yedlin he could see that
17 y/o CM James Sands made his MLS debut for NYCFC this past weekend. He'll likely be playing CB at the U17 WC next month. Patrick Vieira has raved about him.
Bremen's article in German says the plan is for him to start with the U23's and then join up with the first team next summer. Looks like he's gonna be fast tracked.
I'm not actually mad but it is unfortunate that a talented young player that grew up in Canada is playing on your youth teams and not ours. But on the flipside, it's just a youth team and there's no saying he won't eventually play for our senior team if he's good enough. We seem to get hit the hard by this sort of thing (see Owen Hargreaves and Jonathan de Guzman).
Out of curiosity, and not sure if you know much on the kid, would he be on a older team if he was part of the Canadian setup?
I don't know all that much about him nor any of the other under 20 aged players outside of Davies and Tabla (who we might lose to the Ivory Coast) tbh, but judging that he's already playing for TFC II I would imagine he might be.
Seems like he was born in the Detroit, moved to Brampton at a young age, grew up playing soccer in Brampton, then moved to IMG for a couple of years and then back to Canada with the TFC academy. No idea about his parents. But in all seriousness you may as well play for the States at a young age because of the opportunity to play in the youth world cups and the higher exposure.
We lost Efrain Alvarez (who led the u18 Galaxy to the the DA championship and scored in the last 3 rounds at barely 15 yo) to Mexico. It sucks
Also Sergino Dest is an interesting name on the U17 roster. Born in the Netherlands and the youngest player on Ajax's U19 roster. No Llanez is puzzling tho.
at the difference in physique from Ghana to India. Obviously all the the Ghana players are 28 yrs old but still. The Indians actually look U-17.
India wins the hair game. I'm happy Atlutd has 3 of these dudes, but still wish Carleton would get his ass to Europe(Germany).
I like the lineup. Can anyone tell me what they're running? Previously it was a 4-3-3 and Carleton, Sargent, Weah, Akinola have all been playing up top this cycle. Carleton playing the 10 or something?
