Ducktails playing Cambridge in late November. Officially not going home for Thanksgiving for a third straight year
His music is very divisive. Some people think it's super creative whereas I saw one person refer to it as "musical diarrhea"
just downloaded the following new albums Wolf Alice Kamasi Washington Chelsea Wolfe Cut Copy King Krule Protomartyr Jessica Lea Mayfield Torres J Roddy Walston and the Business Moses Sumney Alex Lahey holy fuck
Just got my listen in. So fucking good. Repeat all day. My Children and Up the Tower I particularly enjoyed on the first listen.
probably late larry here on this chick but came across Valerie June on an aclfest playlist and am excited to see her next week now. probably listened to this song 4 times in the last 24 hours
Saw Fleet Foxes & Beach House on Sunday. Awesome show, Fleet Foxes are great live. I don't think there was a single song I was hoping to hear they didn't play. It was a really solid mix of old stuff and the new album. Big Thief on Monday.
Manchester Orchestra was great live at Terminal 5. They feel like a alternative hard rock band live at times, reminiscent of Tool. The light show was a great addition as well.
Enjoy, it was really good. Went with my wife and two of our friends and they didn't really have any expectations. They all loved it.
METZ tonight Alvvays tomorrow night LVL UP Thursday Real Estate Saturday Future Islands next Monday (and then more shows next week) #blessed
Was a great show here in orlando. I do feel like it missed the energy that Chris Freeman brought (the 2nd drummer/keyboardist). But regardless, Andy's voice is just so pure that it never matters.
You won't find a better live act. Bring ear plugs if you're worried about tinnitus. Those guys are at 11 for the entire set every set.
Incredible. They are insanely energetic so the place was wild. I was expecting to have it all just blend together because they're so loud but it all sounded great. Would have liked more stuff off their first album but I should have seen them a few years ago Alvvays was also incredible. They make such beautiful music
Pretty pumped about getting to see car seat headrest and white reaper next weekend at ACL. Kinda pissed cshr plays at the same time as asap ferg though.
Thundercat last night was great. He's low key a really good singer when he drops the falsetto. Absolutely sick at bass of course. Uses some kind of MIDI pedal that makes it sound like different instruments at times. He was playing a six string semi-hollow body bass so it just looked like a giant guitar. And his drummer is beyond good...I literally wanted to a couple times. Cool show for Columbia SC. Talked to someone that had to drive in from Charlotte for it Usually it's the other way around. Cool to see a crowd with more racial diversity than a typical indie rock show too
a TC endorsement gets him added to my ACL schedule for this weekend. Seeing: Johnny P. Band of Heathens. Valerie June. Either James Vincent McMorrow or Spencer Ludwig. Vulfpeck. The Revivalists. Martin Garrix (not this threads cup of tea). After Party show Run the Jewels. Mobley. Allan Rayman. A$ap Ferg. Benjamin Booker. **TC's Thundercat. Black Angels. Alison Wonderland. RHCP Jamila Woods. Danny Brown. Brothers Osborne or Whitney. Goldfish. Head and the Heart. Vance Joy or Portugal. the Man. The Killers
Johnny P. Valerie June. Benjamin Booker and Jamila Woods are not white millennial music in any way shape or form. 4 that I'm more excited about seeing. I think there's a solid mix of genres: blues, motown, soul, rock, rap, electronic. I'm definitely open to suggestions on substitutions. TMB music opinions are top tier in most cases. what you got for me?
I'd skip vance joy and probably james vincent mcmorrow, add Solange, hamilton leithauser, russ, sandy Alex g, black angels, angel olsen, car seat headrest, ought, badbadnotgood, growlers, rainbow kitten surprise and if you're into Martin Garrix you need to see Alison wonderland,
this song is awesome. And then they follow it with Down the Line, Be Nothing and That's All for Now....just a terrific album. Everything Beach Fossils has ever done is so good
yea Garrix and Alison are the two DJs of the weekend. I'm kinda over that phase but enjoy it in very small doses. Got Black Angels on there even though I only know their one famous song. Could swap Sandy Alex for Band of Heathens I've seen BoH twice this year. will check out Hamilton to replace JVMc. Around 6 friday we're dipping into some of that dance fuel so Garrix > Solange. Could do Car Seat over A$ap Ferg he only has one song... Can't do RainbowKitten over Danny Brown he's badass live DRANKIN AND SMOKE. Badbad same time as Head and The Heart I just like HatH too much and it's sunday night need to relax a little Angel Olsen and Russ same time - which is better live?
badbadnotgood is the definition of relaxing asap ferg is a waste of time live Danny brown > rainbow kitten HatH is the definition of caucasian Hamilton should replace mcmorrow sandy Alex > band of heathens as for angel/russ - it just depends on the vibe you're looking for. do you want poppyish hip hop/RnB or angel olsen
damnit Joe let me have my super-cac HatH show in peace. Sunday afternoon is probably shroom day so no telling which stage I'll be wandering to at 6pm. The rest of those Subs I'm good with though Angel Olsen or Russ?
Same. Only time Rap is good at music festivals or huge venues is when you're either up close as shit or the artist just has a lot of great material, i.e.- Kendrick ACL 13 is the only rap show I've thoroughly enjoyed in the 4 years of going to it. Outkast was pretty good but the crowd was fucking moshing and people falling = domino effect crowd stupid highschoolers Angel it is. preciate the recs I'm gonna think about TMB Hipsterjoe when "Lost in my Mind" comes on
I'm finna be in your headspace all night then because that sounds just like every other one of their songs
