I think he is talking about half the interval. At least that's how I do it.
My usual Wed speed work looks similar to this this with everything in parentheses being cool down jog

    4x400 (200)
    1x800 (400)
    HYDRATE
    1x800 (400)
    4x400 (200)

    that's a good workout

I'm struggling with doing intervals/speed in the heat

    My go to lately is a 2 x 1 mile workout or 6-8 x 400m's

I want to work up to doing 3.0 - 4.0 miles in intervals

I did 3x2mi intervals and 2x3mi intervals last summer. They were good

4 @8:07 this morning. Just getting back into it after having a not so great 2017. Running my first half in August. Done quite a few 10ks but never done a half. Assuming it will eventually lead into a full. Excited.

After my first half marathon, this was where I really felt things. I had expected IT band issues, as those had come and gone all throughout my training.

Been amping up my training for my sprint tri in August. Banged out a good 12 miles on my bike yesterday and I always like to run .25 to 1 mike to brick train. Yesterday I felt like my groin was about ready to cramp like holy hell if I kept going during my run. Something new I’ve never had before, hopefully it’s a 1 time deal.

Hottest I've ever ran. Left the house at 7am, 84 degrees, returned home 8 struggling miles later, 89 degrees. Uncomfortable. Also, nipples chafing when I run >6 miles even with my athletic shirt.

Plan today was 2.5 from my house in high 80s with humidity and back then I realized there was a baskin robbins 2 miles more and decided to make it 4.5 each way; get there and of course realize I have no fucking wallet so it's an angry and terrible 4.5 back. Did get my ice cream later at least.

Hadn't done any speed workouts in months. Thursday night joined a group to do a bridge sprint workout. Holy crap that kicked my ass. Was really good, will be doing this every 2 weeks.

Good warmup then run up the bridge at ~90% effort. Walk back down. Repeat 6x. I suppose I could build this up to 8-12x repeats but 6x was perfect for the first one.

So this sinus infection has totally cut into my sprint tri training. I have the first 2 weeks in July off and the plan was to kick it into overdrive on the training those 2 weeks. Yeah that hasn’t happened.

started running with a run group for long runs

starts at 6am on Saturdays, which sucks waking up that early but nice to avoid the heat/get it over with

highly recommend running groups for your long runs

yeah it sucks only getting 5 hours of sleep on Saturday, but nice to get it over with.

being a soccer fan of a team in Europe makes running difficult. I hate doing long runs outside of the morning time, so it's nice to get them over with before the 9am games.

Have a shitty treadmill but pretty nice exercise room that I've spent a good penny on, been kind of an obsession since I wanted to become unfat. Gym membership, ton of soccer stuff, basketballs, tennis, baseball. I like having options.

Yeah I’ve got a shitty pro-form or pro-life treadmill, whatever it’s called. I’ve more than enough got my money out of it, only spent $500 or so on it a few years ago. If I were you I’d get an entry level treadmill, see how you like it for a year or 2 and then go from there.

Trying to totally revamp my breathing and focus on my form more before my sprint tri in 3 weeks. I’m a pretty decent swimmer (400m), I can hold close to a 18 mph pace biking (12 miles), but I’m shot about a mile into the last leg (5k). Didn’t realize how bad my breathing was until I started putting it all together a few weeks ago.

I really want to do one of these, and eventually work up to an Olympic distance tri, but I would probably die in the water. I basically grew up in the water with a boat and wakeboarding and such, but I can’t swim distance for shit and it is super frustrating.

I was the same until I really focused on it this year. Grew up 100 yards from a lake, can swim like a fish, pretty fast for short distances, but really struggled with distance.

The key is to get a breathing rhythm down, I breath every time my right arm comes up. Some can do it every 2nd or 3rd stroke, I’m not that guy.
