Rockin Rib 10k race this morning. I had a goal of under 60 mins. Finished in 59 Just slightly behind the overall winner who ran it in 27:55 https://resultscui.active.com/parti...5e199d8351e0198854c20b9a3c74592f9a004a05a9c49
Did the Philly Marathon this morning. I’m slow but I beat my goal by 19 seconds. I also beat my previous marathon time from 9 years ago by 12 and a half minutes.
I need a new pair of shoes. I've been running in the On Cloudswift and Cloudflows, the swifts were nice and padded, but I hate the flows. I was thinking of looking at something like Brooks or Hoka this time. Any recommendations for daily training (15-20 miles per week) and also for 10K to half? Not worried about speed at this point in my life more so than preventing injury.
Brooks Glycerin ftw. I recently got a pair of Brooks Ghosts, and they feel "cheaper" than the Gylcerins. In the Ghosts' defense, they DO cost less than the Glycerins. ...I just bought another pair of Glycerins a few mins ago, in fact. They're on sale for 25% off at Brooks (and Amazon), so that's a pretty great deal.
I just got the glycerin 20s. tried them on locally (along with ghost max, hoka Clifton’s and Mach 5s, and new balance 1080s). The glycerins felt so good. Can’t wait to run in them
I love them and you can run them into the ground, imo. The soles on the Ghosts feel less squishy than my Glycerins with hundreds and hundreds of asphalt miles despite the Ghost supposedly being the "affordable" street running shoe from Brooks.
It seems to be for me. Ghosts are more affordable, but the quality of the materials just isn't the same, imo and fwiw.
Got my new Glycerins yesterday, proceeded to run a 5k turkey trot in 20:56 this morning in them, and the Glyercins felt like running on clouds compared to the Ghosts. Dammit, it's my best-ever 5k, but I know I can do better because I feel like I'm more training for an 8k at that sub-7 minute pace.
First half marathon tomorrow morning not setting any type of target other than finishing it (but hoping to keep it 2h30m or less). It's the most difficult half in the area so not expecting much. I plan to take this experience and set a target for the "easier" aka flatter half in February.
6 mile run this morning on a refreshingly new route to Boynton Inlet I bought these last year and have put 491 miles on them. Only $51? Buying another pair now
Never run more than a 5k officially but running first (only?) half Saturday at Disney. Excited except for potential rain.
I have 2 young kids so I printed one out and then realized I wouldn’t be able to follow it. I’m not an early riser either really so the idea of losing sleep before they woke up didn’t sound fun. I just ran when I had time and gradually kept going further. But I made pretty big jumps towards the end since I was running out of time. Went from 7 to 10. I play ice hockey so I’m decently active but wouldn’t exactly recommend my build up. I don’t care about time though. Just looking to finish. I’ll be taking some walking intervals plus will stop to take pictures since it’s Disney and that’s all part of it. Will be around 12/mile or so
Nice bump today guys, took about a year off after hip and tight pelvic floor issues, gonna try and follow the 80/20 book and see if it helps, about 20 pages in.
Tried bone conductor headphones today at the expo. Reading about them I thought they were gimmicky. Still kinda weird feeling the vibrations but I assume you get used to it. Cool concept though to keep your ears open while running.
Love mine. What I don’t love is IT Band Syndrome. Been dealing with it since late November. Ran a full on 11/11 then paced a half the next weekend. Been dealing with it ever since. Been focusing on foam rolling and lower body lifting (squats, deadlifts) and stretching, but welcome any other suggestions. Tan pain free for the first time yesterday, but started having pain again today when going uphill. Fucking sucks.
Holidays plus closing on a home = no running and 10 lbs gained. Now tickling the toes of 2 bills, which I’ve never ran at before. What kind of extras do you guys do when you’re heavier than normal? Different/longer stretching?
Have a pair of AfterShohz I use for running. They are perfect for running but I'm glad I have my AirPods for everything else.
i tried shokz last year but did not enjoy them. I couldn't get them to stay snug enough for the tech to work. I use the Beats Fit Pro for running, transparency mode provides enough outside noise for me to be comfortable. But Shockz are the best for surrounding awareness.
probably one of the coolest videos you'll watch this year Nico Young is such a bad ass. And Mike Smith is soooo cool The Workout: 400/2K/4x400/800 (8:00 rest) The Splits: 53.9/5:17/60.0/58.1/59.6/57.4/1:55.7 At 7K feet, madness

2nd half in the books. I was about 4 minutes slower today vs my first half, but a much more difficult course. I’m bummed with the time, but happy I completed it. lots of lessons learned today. Definitely feeling 40 today though
First run since the half (I’ve been walking daily) think I’m finally going to have to give in and go see an ortho about my left knee
Ran my first half of the year yesterday, missed the 2 hour mark by 3 seconds, lol. Have another in 3 weeks. I've never run two that close together, so that should be interesting.
Signed up for my first multi race challenge. 10k and half in November at Disney. Should be a fun little weekend
As recently as 2021, only two Americans had ever run sub-27:00 – Chris Solinsky and Galen Rupp. Tonight, three Americans ran sub-27:00 in the same race: Fisher, Young, and Kincaid. This is what the all-time US 10,000-meter list looks like now: 26:33.84 Grant Fisher 2022 26:44.36 Galen Rupp 2014 26:52.72 Nico Young 2024 26:57.57 Woody Kincaid 2024 26:59.60 Chris Solinsky 2010 Nico Young in 2024 lol: -3:57 mile at 7,000 feet -12:57 NCAA 5k record at BU (first collegian and youngest American sub-13:00) -NCAA titles at 3k and 5k, including a meet record in the 3k -26:52 NCAA 10k record at The TEN (first collegian and youngest American sub-27:00)
Few weeks out and I’ve been mostly perfect with my training. I downloaded Runna and can’t rec it enough as someone who is a casual runner and wanted a formal program. I went from doing 5mi as my long run to doing 10mi with relative ease. trying to dial in my diet before the race on April 28th. Thinking about experimenting with gels bc I have felt a bit gassed and I want to try to boost my pace in the final third. Any recs? Think I need high salt and caffeine.
Has anyone ran with the Brooks Glycerin Stealthfit GTS before? I have been content with my normal Glycerins before, but this slightly firmer fit has piqued my interest. I run with neutral medium sizes typically
