Chesswithfriends? Any other app? Have we ever had a topic? And, most importantly, who's trying to get got?
There are tons of chess apps out there. I play tournament level chess and would be happy to recommend. In my opinion the best apps for playing are lichess and chess.com's app.
had this discussion on our private board and there was a decent amount of interest. if there's some kind of TMB league-a-ma-jig setup at some point I'm in
World Chess Championship kicking off just now. Been getting back into chess lately so this is great timing. Draws expected early, Carlsen would want to use his superiority in shorter time controls should they get to the tiebreaks.
Didn’t realize at first this thread was 2 years old and was wondering when and why this shit stain showed back up
Hah I didn't notice the Show Ignored Content in the bottom right at first and was looking around like, who me, what'd I do?
Played on yahoo games on the aol days. Also, this reminded me that I need to watch Searching for Bobby Fischer again.
Caruana with less than half an hour on the clock only on move 17. 30 second increment but there are way too many moves until move 40.
Everyone should watch the Real Sports piece on this. Never knew St Louis became the center of the chess world until that piece
Carlsen had him on the ropes for a while. Moving his queen to g1 around move 35 really limited its usefulness.
I like the Play Magnus app. You get to play against him based on his age. I've beat him at 7 years old once and never above that.
I recommend checking out Agdamator's chess channel. I imagine he will have a video up a little later today. Dude does solid work.
Not a good sign for Fabi Carlsen had winning chances playing as black the first game Nervous for Fabi tomorrow playing as black
Man I was about to judge you unfairly but then I downloaded the app and cruised through 5-7 year old Magnus and then I’m getting sloppy with my moves and 7.5 yr old Magnus has beaten me 4 times in a row. So I take back my premature judgment.
Carlsen dealing with the same time pressure Caruana did yesterday with white. Half an hour left with 21 moves until move 40 grants 50 minutes.
Carlsen very lucky. He was in a really bad spot on the queenside and his pawn structure was terrible for most of the mid game.
Gm3 starting the same as Gm1. Carlsen wants to try and recreate the winning advantage he had and lost.
There was a really quick draw for Gm4. Gm5 is nearing end game now and Carlsen might be pushing an adventurous King with several minor pieces still hanging around.
Draw. 5 draws. This is wearing me down, but there are some interesting patterns emerging. Black at one point or another in almost all of these games has held the upper hand instead of just trying to play it safe. Caruana did well today forcing Carlsen to tie up a lot into defending a central pawn piece, limiting almost all flexibility until the King came out to play. Carlsen stifled Caruana's knight development very very well. Back at it again tomorrow, 2.5-2.5 in a race to 6.5.
Through move 11 (22 total piece moves), Carlsen and Caruana have moved their knights SIXTEEN times. Holy hell. Queens off at move 8.
Magnus holds for a draw. Again, Black (Caruana) has a distinct advantage in yet another game. White needed computer-precise play at the end to live.
Caruana playing strong, retains the +0.5 advantage that you start out with as White. Carlsen is down big on time.
Caruana played well as time ran down, another draw. Draws through 9 games so far. Game 10 tomorrow, then rest day, Gm 11 Saturday, rest day, Gm12 Monday. First time there will be that extra rest day. Caruana with White in 10/12. Crunch time.
Dude's going to have to do something. Carlsen will crush him in quicker time formats if it comes down to tiebreakers.
Spicy times right now in Game 12. Carlsen with a slight advantage on the engine but a massive 50 minute vs 15 minute time gap with about 10 moves left until time control saves Caruana. He can make a mistake with this pressure.
I'm with my boy Jerry @ChessNetwork. Caruana down to 7 minutes, with 8 moves to go (+30 seconds per move, so like... 11 minutes).
We've got free chess, boys. On November 28th @10:00 AM EST: best of 4 rapid games (25 minutes + 10 second increment) If still tied a best of 2 blitz games (5 minutes + 3 seconds increment) This continues up to a total of 5 groups of 2 blitz games. If still tied, 1 armageddon game where White receives 5 minutes and Black receives 4 minutes. 3 seconds increment starting from move 61. Color picked at random. In case of a draw, the player with the black pieces is declared the winner. Champion to be crowned on Wednesday.
