tjosu nailed the Chase side but since I have a spreadsheet I shall share what I have cuz I'm a nerd: How I value points in acquisition: Hotels Hilton 0.006 IHG 0.006 Marriott 0.008 Hyatt 0.018 Airline United 0.012 Delta 0.015 Southwest 0.015 ANA 0.016 Alaska 0.017 AA 0.021 Rewards Chase 0.016 Amex 0.016 Here's what I have actually redeemed in the last two years (note: I transfer Chase/Amex to other airlines sometimes to I get more value than the standard 0.015 listed)
based on that i'll probably use points for one of them at .013, the other marriott/spg value is .005 think its because its a new hotel but *vomits* shits cheaper in korea than expected
Just remember, it's all free. You don't always need to get great "value." Still cheaper than spending money Editor's note: I just spent money on a hotel last week and it makes me sad
but in the latter if I use that spend effectively I feel like the value of that outweighs a low-value redemption even if i'm coming out of pocket
it is all free, but consider the opportunity cost of using a shity redemption instead of paying and using it later. Then you'll be a hoarder like ohhait and I and always on the hunt.
I have a "value floor" for redemptions. So as long I'm at that floor or above I'll just go ahead and book. Otherwise I give myself analysis paralysis and start hoarding points.
yeah due to the nature of our travel we don't really have unlimited point accumulation buckets through things like work travel/etc
We leave for Australia & New Zealand tomorrow. Paid For: - 10 day cruise for two via Costco - Two return flights (AUK --> LAX) Redeemed Through Churning: - Two flights from DFW --> SYD - Two nights in Sydney and one night in Auckland - Five cruise excursions
Same to a point. I also can't justify spending money when I can get it for "free." I hoard and I splurge and there's no end in sight
.005 is pretty low for Marriott/SPG. That would be tough. I guess it depends on how much the hotel cost to book as well. 50K points for $250 vs $400? I might just eat the $150 in value. 150K points for $750 vs $1200? Too much devaluation for me.
You only did this so you don't have to go to the Territorial Cup. Spoiler Fuck, I should've done the same thing.
I don’t have one yet. I’ll be over there for 40 days, I land in Saigon and leave from Singapore. I have my first 3 nights booked and am winging it from there. I’ll definitely keep track of where I go and try to do a write up in the travel thread either as I go or at the end
Applied for chase biz ink thurs night. Got email saying they would process application as soon as possible. No mention of 30 days. Can someone direct me to the flowchart? Supposed to call an 800 number now right?
(800) 432-3117 to check the status. 30 days means they haven't gotten to it yet, 2 weeks means you are most likely approved, 7-10 days means denied. Denial could just mean they need to verify your address or something. It's best to call recon in this situation.
So, we got rebooked to Brisbain (and then to Sydney) from LAX on Qantas. And upgraded to business class. On a miles flight. What world am I living in?
Need some advice on using my phone while I’m in Vietnam and Thailand. I unlocked my iPhone from att. If I get a sim over there, will my iMessage and WiFi calls still work? Or should I just leave my phone in airplane mode while I’m there?
With ATT, I believe you can set it up to where you only pay $10 per 24 hour period. So I usually leave it on airplane mode unless I need to use data.
My cat got a 50k/10k mile AA mailer from Citi today How long after the listed expiration date can they still be used, 2 months?
My country inlaws we’re driving back home last night and had to stop halfway due to bad weather. I booked them in a cheap four points by Sheraton w/ points. You would’ve thought I put them up in the Ritz. Not happy about losing 12,500 points but I can do no wrong in their book for the next year.
How much are 100,000 Hilton Honors points worth? Got a mailer and the spend is only $1k over 3 months
planning a summer Eurotrip for our 5th anniversary. London - Brussels - Amsterdam. Starting to get into early level planning. Anyone flown Norwegian airlines before? Low cost carrier. They have a premium cabin that isn't first class but isn't coach either. Thinking of taking that for the flight back to the States Going to book the flight there w/ UR points transferred to whichever airline makes the most sense. Saw there was a 25k pt flight available from ATL-LHR operated by Virgin that sounds like a bargain.
