Yea that’s another thing that helped. A good tip was to not set an alarm. Obviously that doesn’t work for some people so more generically, get more than enough sleep. Sleeping while fasting is easier than being awake while fasting.
Except last night I dreamt that I drank a beer and broke my fast. So it’s crept into my subconscious.
What's the deal with cholesterol on this diet? I had the good old keto-friendly breakfast of a healthy portion of over-easy eggs and bacon. It's just weird to me still that, that is an encouraged meal. While I was eating it I was thinking the cholesterol had to be damn high.
you guys like chia seeds? 2 tbsp of seeds, one cup almond milk, a little sweetener and/or vanilla extract or cocao powder and you have a “pudding” that’s good in fat, protein and fiber. Let it sit overnight and eat. 1g net carbs
Just a theory of mone that I have no scientific proof of: When you ingest some carbs (mainly flour-based) on a normal diet, that binds with fat to create an in-body roux, or thickening agent. Some people still burn fat, but have clogged arteries, while most get fat and clogged arteries. But the general idea is that the fat needs something to attach to. If it’s not there, you just use it as fuel or shit/piss it out. Again, no proof at a molecular level, just using my knowledge from cooking and how thickening agents work.
hipsterjoe you know more about this stuff than can keep my interest. Plus you apparently like to make all sorts of different keto friendly stuff. You're still in Omaha right? How about you just make enough for 2 and I buy meals from you every couple weeks lol
the meal planning isn’t as daunting as it seems. Just grasp an understanding of the basic foods you can eat. Then think about the meals you enjoy when you’re not dieting, then adapt. Last night I made taco bowls, but I used 80% lean beef with onion and green bells sautéed in butter. Seasoned it with regular taco seasoning, laid it over a bed of cauliflower rice, topped it with avocado, sour cream, cheese and tomato. It’s the same kind of shit you’d normally eat, just adapted for keto
after my workout I’m going to sauté some shredded Brussels sprouts along with diced chicken thighs and a salad
Does anyone have a keto crockpot recipe they like? Looks like the Mississippi roast is a little higher in carbs than I want to go
A gluten-free diet is a diet that excludes the protein gluten. Gluten is found in grains such as wheat, barley, rye, and a cross between wheat and rye called triticale. Foods without gluten: fruits and vegetables beans seeds legumes nuts potatoes eggs dairy products oils and vinegars corn rice fish lean beef chicken seafood
I mean, a little more effort was needed... https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Why-I-Quit-Keto-45574623/amp
These Quest bars are decent, just got more. Good option to have around house/office https://www.amazon.com/stores/node/3039590011?_encoding=UTF8&field-lbr_brands_browse-bin=Quest Nutrition&ref_=bl_dp_s_mw_3039590011
These trigger sugar cravings for me but they are so perfect in a pinch that I routinely down them. So many good flavors
spinach and romaine are my go to bases if I’m not using veggie rice. Ended up frying an angus burger with double cheese and added it on top of that rice with avocado and a fried egg. Sooo much fat and about 40g of protein
#Buffalo Bills how much butter do you mix with your hot sauce for wings? 50/50 split? I think I’m going to toss them in oil. Bake at 450 for 15-20 minutes then toss them in the sauce. Eat with some fatty fat ranch.
I think it is more about timing. We want to be better for summer and for the holidays. Especially regarding weight loss. So now is the time to start.
I usually get wings and pizza for most college NC games. Sticking with that tradition tomorrow except it’s going to be portobello mushroom “pizzas” and chicharone (sp) wings.
Made the pork rinds tacos. Pretty good. https://theprimitivepalate.com/2015/02/08/pork-rind-tortillas/
heading to a Japanese/Thai spot. Think I’m going to be a difficult asshole and have them combine some stuff. Bunch of sashimi and vegetables is the goal. Let me know if you’ve keto’d up your local sushi place.
I haven’t made it yet my wife has so this is what I understand. Just a portobello mushroom with the stem cut off. You coat in olive oil heat it up for 5-10 min on its back. Take it out ad your pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Put it back in the oven and cook it. I’ll find out time and temp. It taste basically like a extra mushroom and pep pizza. The mushroom is your crust. I enjoy them but if you don’t care for mushrooms they might not be for you. Also it doesn’t taste like pizza crust. A couple of those and some wings will be great IMO.
Had a salad from Chipotle for dinner. Base of romaine with chicken, steak, and chorizo with shredded cheese, fresh tomato salsa, and sour cream on it. Was deliciousness. Entire thing was 12 carbs and 4 grams of sugar. They have a handy nutrition calculator on their site: https://www.chipotle.com/nutrition-calculator
most BBQ sauce uses molasses and tomatoes, which are going to have carbs. depending on what you're trying to do i would look into (A) creole mustard, dijon, grey poupon-based and/or (B) vinegar/pepper-based, its not too difficult to make your own come to think of it, the mayonnaise-based alabama bbq sauce, which ive never made, would be a very good high-fat/low-carb bbq sauce. https://www.dukesmayo.com/recipe/lollys-alabama-white-bbq-sauce/
Wife and kids are out of town so I’ve had to fend for myself. Breakfast is easy dinner is a bitch for me. Had leftover BWW first night last night found some chicken skewers and leftover vegetables my wife had cooked. Today was all me. Threw spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, asparagus and broccoli in left over bacon grease (from this morning) found a flack steak in the freezer and threw in on the grill. Would have posted a picture but didn’t want devine to make me the new Truman steak meme. But, while not too pretty it was damn good.
Most of molasses and tomato based bbq sauces use those ingredients. There's a big bbq sauce world out there
They is Chipotle. They're selling bowls designed for keto. Whole 30 is a similar diet, which they are also selling bowls designed for
