I will be in Charlotte Thurs-sun for the WVU game. Any restaurant + bar recs? Will be staying in the south Park area Also, any good bars outside the stadium?
Hello friends, I left the Charlotte area 10 years ago. Due to family shit, I am looking to head back that way possibly. Anyone here in the staffing or healthcare IT field? Yours, Jacob
just got into town. not too worried but my parents are pretty worked up. if it looks too bad tomorrow morning i will head back up the mountain
Yeah no power outages in my area yet. Have heard of a few though already near uptown. Pretty mild around my office in the Tyvola/Yorkmony area ...
Need restaurant recommendations for this week. Going to be in the Ballantyne area for work Wednesday to Friday but going to spend some time in the evenings driving around the city as my wife and I are considering moving to Charlotte so it doesn't have to be right in Ballantyne. I would like something near the airport for Friday night as I'm meeting my dad who's coming up from Greenville for dinner.
I have no clue. I’ve been three times and the food has been amazing every time. Probably gets knocked down because it’s not “fancy” enough.
Ate there once and got my steak with crab on top of it. After a bite or two into the steak I was annoyed with the crab being there because the steak was so good.
Planning on trying out Sweet Lew's BBQ in Belmont today. Havent had a chance yet cause they keep selling out before I get off work
Oooh that’s in that boujee section of town that I can’t afford. For work. Local Des Moines company with a newish office out there. Office is near Harris and 85, university area.
Did some good eating this week with the fam in town. Beef N Bottle, Haberdish, and xmas eve dinner at the re-opened Custom Shop. First two we all are aware of I'm sure but I'd make it a point to get over to Custom Shop. Great seafood options (rainbow trout has sold out to my sister's dismay) but also had a nice 12 oz prime rib on special. Also lots of tapas/shared plates. Really a nice, wide array of options on the menu. Good addition to the CLT scene and bringing something new to the mix
I ate at custom shop about a year ago. Remember thinking the appetizers were on point but was a little let down by the entrees. Been too long to remember what I got but that was my impression.
I was looking at some reviews last night and I simply cannot believe anyone would complain about the food. The service issues mentioned perhaps but I've never had food come late or cold or anything like that. I could see something like not being a sommelier with the wine list cause they seem to employ local folks and not young hipster kids. Our guy Chip had a slight meth-y vibe too him (told us how he was living with his mom who also worked there) but overall very nice and got everything out on time ...
Any new restaurants in uptown worth checking out? Got a baby sitter for Sunday and probably just going to do Dandelion Market. My wife mentioned some French restaurant but the menu didn’t really stand out to me.
La Belle Helene is worth the trip, though I can only claim to trying a charcuterie plate. The decor/ambience would be great for a date night though ...
Imo order a temperature up from what you would order at a chain steakhouse like Cap Grille/Fleming’s/Ruth Chris. Ex: If you normally like medium rare at a place like that order it medium at BnB.
Forgot to post, but went to Seoul Food Meat Co. last Friday when I was in town....not bad for south end
Ive been to Al Mike's twice and while I loved the atmosphere, the food left a lot to be desired, especially for the price.
I wish I had more recs for uptown proper but most of the places you see mentioned ITT are in the surrounding neighborhoods. It's all an easy uber, do you have a schedule you have to keep up with closer to the arena? Dinner at the Cellar @ Duckworth's is always a good option, and upstairs the main bar is a good craft beer and sports spot. Imagine it'll be packed all weekend. Farenheit has one of the best skyline views and high rise patios, but the food is very meh IMO. Merchant & Trade is another high rise patio bar that I've had some good drinks at. The EpiCentre is a tri-level entertainment complex with lots of generic bar/club options. There's rooftop there too that should have some type of promotion. A little away from the action Graham Street Pub is a nice drinks spot that could be more low key ... You clubbing? Looking for dinner places primarily? Breweries?
My advice would be to get out of uptown. It will be a shit show during the all star game weekend and no fun. If you are 22/23, ignore my advice and enjoy the epicenter. Where are you staying?
