He's already elite. He was the clear cut MVP of the league and the best QB in football in 2017 before the injury. Everything I read said there was no way the knee was 100% yet based off his injury and no OTAs and training camp probably had a lot to do with him holding the ball a little too long. There were numerous times the '17 version would have just taken off and run. Have to try and get a legit starter or 2nd or 3rd rd pick for Foles. Work your magic Howie.
Also, I mean I like to think of myself as a pretty rabid Eagles fan. Cap situation, contracts length, draft classes, upcoming FAs, etc., I'm pretty much on top of it all. I've literally never watched an Eagles game before and said, wait, who is that guy? Last night I was like WHAT THE FUCK IS A HAWKINS??????? Did Wes Hopkins unretire? That was insane to me.
the offensive line may go from one of the best units in the league to a nightmare very quickly. have to assume Peters will retire, Kelce may do the same, and who knows what they get from Brooks next year.
I’m assuming Brooks to be out the majority of the year. I have not looked into recovery times for achilles tears though.
I think it's like 6 months, but who knows how long it will take to get back to his normal playing level.
Peters was so damn good against the Bears but he just can't stay healthy. Kelce retiring would be a disaster. Can't cut Wisniewski and his 3 mil cap hit now since you don't know what you are getting from Brooks. I would hope Mailata has progressed to the point where he can actually contribute since they kept him on the 53 man all season. They have to spend one of the early picks on an OL if there's a guy available imo
That should give him most of camp. That’s reassuring then. I think we’ll be ok as long as Kelce comes back. Vaitai has show promise and I’m still not convinced Johnson isn’t headed over there.
It’s closer to 9-12 months for a full recovery. Achilles and patella tendon ruptures are probably the worst ligament/tendon injuries you can have recovery wise. Hope he can make it back next season.
Will be interesting. Wonder how strongly they feel about the Aussie kid. If Kelce comes back they can probably just sign a mid tier type guy in FA to plug inside and survive ok (if they moved on from Wis or want to upgrade) but I do think they need to assess the whole unit
Not sure if you knew this or not but we are all doctors. Zeb is actually an orthopedic surgeon so I will defer to his six month time frame. Thanks.
We at least have one example in Kos coming back like he did. But to echo your sentiments, there's still the whole game speed thing.
You can't count on Brooks until at least Oct-Nov. Achilles tears and 320 lb dudes aren't a good combo.
I think the whole plan reshaping the roster moving forward hinges on Peters. He's got a 10.6 million cap hit with roughly 2 million in dead money. I don't think you can allocate 5% of the cap to him if he can't stay healthy, but you also don't have a viable replacement for him either. I'd be hesitant to move Lane since there's almost no difference in LT and RT anymore with the way teams move pass rushers around.
GO KC!!! Was a Rollercoaster year. Good to know that even though we were the Champs last year, the fans are still the most vocal, most critical, most passionate fans in the NFL. Fight me.
Hoping the Broncos will continue to be desperate and stupid and make a nice offer for Foles. I'd take their 2nd round pick. I've even heard some random fans when out in public here in Colorado dropping his name. They all pretty much hate Keenum. That signing was a stone cold lock to blow up in their face.
Read an article today where Brooks thinks he can be ready by training camp. Seems a tad optimistic. But more importantly, there was a nugget about Sproles thinking about returning and that the Eagles were open to bringing him back. I am so ready to move on from him, he's totally washed.
DeFilippo going to JAX as OC is going to stir up some rumors of Foles ending up there. Give me the 38th pick and we can make this happen
Solid start so far Hoping the Bucs will cut ties with Desean so we can go after him Would also be nice if Chris Long comes back for one more year
We should be bowing down and thanking god that Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones own pro football franchises within our division
I think a long term deal at lower aav is more likely. No chance he plays this year at that cap # you would think
Just went back and forth watching these two clips all night http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-netwo...46426/DeSean-Jackson-game-winning-punt-return
What they should have done is get foles Barkley, Odell and a real qb they would be on the up This move makes no sense and it makes me happy
Market must have been cold for him coming off the injury. Love it for us. If he bounces back, pay the man. Also gives Jones another year to prove himself
Not surprised in the least by this. Welcome back. Another move that offsets the loss of Bennett and Jernigan Eagles signed DE Vinny Curry to a one-year contract. The deal is not yet official, but it has been widely reported, first by The Philly Inquirer's Zach Berman. It is a homecoming for Curry, who was a second-round pick by the Eagles in 2012 and spent six seasons with the team before leaving for Tampa Bay last year. Curry's return gives Philly the same defensive end rotation which helped propel them to the Super Bowl in 2017.
Low cost for a young player who could be a useful early down, between the tackles runner. I’ll take the flier
That should officially shut the door on Ajayi coming back. Never thought he was going to but read that he was still flirting with a return on a “prove it” deal.
I‘m satisfied with day one. Good to finally get a young tackle with some legit upside to groom this year. This has to be the last season for Peters. Then we can let Dillard, Big V, and the Aussie battle it out Thoughts for day 2? We’ll have a couple picks. Wouldn’t mind bringing in another rusher, taking a receiver, or going somewhere in the defensive backfield. We have a lot of young guys at DB but still some uncertainty (Darby one year deal, is Sidney Jones gonna figure it out, etc). Even though we’ll have Malcolm and McLeod coming back, there are a couple safeties I’m intrigued with. Considering LB is not valued at all, I could see us rolling with three safeties a lot next year with Malcolm essentially dropping down into the box like a LB. Eagles traded up with the Ravens to select Washington State OT Andre Dillard with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Philly traded the 25th pick, the 127th pick, and the 197th pick to move up. This is a value selection for a team that will have to replace 37-year-old LT Jason Peters in the near future. Dillard (6’5/315) made 42 starts at left tackle for Mike Leach’s Cougars, earning first-team All-Pac 12 honors and PFF College’s highest pass-blocking grade in the nation as a senior. He shredded the Combine, running 4.96 with an elite 4.4-second short shuttle, a highly predictive metric for offensive line success. Dillard has quick feet to mirror in pass protection, big hands (10"), and long enough arms (33 ½") to stay on the blind side. He checks virtually every box as a long-term starter with Pro Bowl upside.
Also Jernigan back on a one-year deal is sweet if he can stay healthy. Him, Cox, and Malik Jackson inside could be nice
