To echo righty, the basis of building muscle is around big compound movements: bench, squat, deadlift, Barbell rows, overhead press. Push these in the 4-6 rep range for 4-6 reps then do your typical bodybuilding stuff after: triceps, biceps, shoulders, lat pulldowns, cable rows, etc

I’ve been going from Boring but Big to Candito and back for about a year now and have enjoyed it. I’ll throw a few accessory workouts in on off days.

What’s the protocol on lifting with stitches? Have them in two different spots (left tricep and back of the neck) from mole removals.

Surgeon said that day, internet differs between a few days to waiting until they’re taken out (two weeks from Tuesday).

It’s more the sweat as a delivery method for all of the funk found in a gym. Your sites are very superficial, but I’d definitely give it a day or two.

I mean, surgeons usually care more about not having to deal with a surgical site infections or wasting time in a post-op visit than they do about you keeping your lifting schedule, so if the surgeon said same day...

Understandable -- I would keep them covered with Neosporin while at the gym and in a hoodie. Just didn't know if lifting/accumulating mass would aggravate/stretch out the areas (mainly the arm).

Lifting is fucking WAR and if you’re gonna let a few measly stitches stop you from being a fucking SOLDIER then maybe this isn’t for you

I think the MRSA levels are p crazy in most gyms due to poor disinfection I would probably run or something like that than lay on a bench

Getting the itch to buy something new. I have several possibilities, but I’m looking for something that will give me the greatest increased utility for the dollar from what I currently own.

    Current inventory include:
    Rogue power rack
    Beater bar
    Ohio power bar
    Trap bar
    EZ curl bar
    Shoulder rok
Old bow flex adjustable bench (not great)

    Possibilities include:
    Rep flat bench
    Rep adjustable bench
    SSB
    GHD
    Archon multi grip bar

Oddly enough, I may be leaning toward the GHD. While the other options will upgrade what I can do, the GHD will allow me to do something I can’t currently do. And with the pressure I feel in my over back some days, I really think I would benefit from the back raises that Juggernaut wants to program.

    Thoughts?

I peed a little on my last set of bench and now have a super obvious piss stain on my sweatpants.

I’d call it a day and slink outta here but the weights are moving well today so I think I’ll just ignore this

How wide is everyone’s bench grip? I have always gone thumb length from the beginning of the knurl. But I have wide grip currently programmed, so I’ve been putting my middle finger on the stripe and it has felt really good. I’m in a hypertrophy phase so not going heavy, but I may give a wider grip a chance moving forward.

My regular grip has been a CGBP since I can control the weight with my lats much better that way, at most an inch or 2 outside of shoulder width.

Been in the process of bringing it out, think that may help with some shoulder issues. For some reason when I go wider I feel like I don't have the same power behind my lats, probably just a technique thing that I need to practice.

Funny you mention this as we’ve been working to widen my grip. I’ve always competed with a closer grip either thumbs distance from the smooth or pinky on the ring. I’ve moved it out to max legal width (index on the ring) and it’s been going well so far. Trying to see the balance between explosiveness off the chest and the ability to grind through a rep.

Always felt I could get more volume out of wider grip but a stronger 1RM in closer.

Regardless, wider always feels like a better pec burn and it’s all about the pecs, breh.

What's the reasoning? Is it a shorter ROM or because you can use a certain muscle group better?

Just shortening the rom and seeing if it’s stronger.

Do whatever feels best and let’s you lift the most. Josh Bryant’s guys all use a closer grip. I don’t know if that’s just a coincidence with their leverages or if there’s some biomechanical reason that a closer grip is stronger.

it's been interesting, i set up a lot wider than i should on bench and can't keep my elbows tucked. i wouldn't progress at all doing that, moved them in and my strength shot up. pinky on the inner ring of our bar right now.

Was supposed to do 3 sets of 5 of 410, 5th rep of 1st set was torture(probably horrible form as well) so decided to move onto singles. Up to 480 on hex, bout time to buy a 5th set of 45s.

This was after a really disturbing deadlift dream that woke me up in the middle of the night

Stitches finally come out Thursday. Have been lifting but haven't pushed hard since they were in.

Combination of just awkward having them there, along with my body probably needing some rest weeks anyway. Will feel good to start going heavy again on lifts and to start squatting.

Is it safe to take 5g of creatine routinely/daily? I've read articles that contradict each other on if it's ok or not, or if you need to cycle on and off it.

5 grams is the recommended dosage for most creatines, no?

If you're asking if creatine is healthy for you the answer is emphatically NO. Too addicting and I've known several gym goers who have overdosed.

Jk it's safe and extremely beneficial
