Ultimate Tournament of Champions Royale to determine who takes over. Matt and Buzzy not included for obvious reasons.
that's a pretty good comparison for an off-center pick that turned out well, but even Conan had a long history of performance. i like what Ken said about Trebek being like Cronkite: having an authoritative but smooth and comforting manner. That seems like the best fit to me and I just don't see that in Ken. I wonder if the show would be willing to make a choice like that and have Jeopardy be a little more edgy. Might make a lot of old people die.
See, i’d say that all that you described him with would be why he would be a great replacement to Trebek. I’d rather have king of the nerds hosting my trivia gameshow than a news anchor with his non regional dialect and canned TV presence
think Ken is too political to host the show. he'd immediately alienate the olds/Trump supporters because of prior tweets and whatnot. that's a massive portion of the shows audience. personally, I'd be fine with some random with experience in announcing/hosting.
You think the olds/Trump supporters that would be alienated enough to stop watching have been following KJ’s tweets? They only even learned what Twitter was 2 years ago because of Trump in the first place
i refuse to believe that trump people watch high quality television like jeopardy wheel of fortune is more their speed
for nearly a year his books on amazon had <2 star review average because he made a tweet about Barron Trump. all I'm saying is it will be quite the deviation to go from Alex, who keeps to himself politically/socially (or so it seems to me) to someone who has had his thoughts plastered on the internet for nearly a decade now.
If the choice is between Ken and your straw man, then yeah gimme Ken. I just think the heir to Trebek should have a lot of his qualities that helped the show work so smoothly.
I think this about the 5th time this season that a 4 day champ has not been able to seal the deal with a 5th win. That pressure to punch their ticket to the Tourney is the real deal, too.
My older brother, Steven, is a contestant on Wednesday's episode. He's one of the smartest people I know, so I'm relatively certain he won't embarrass himself, but it has been an incredibly nerve wracking few months since he went to LA. We have both been huge fans of the show for a long, long time - so win or lose I'm super excited for him.
He filmed either the Monday or Tuesday after the Super Bowl. He's been super secretive about how he did, so I wish I knew more.
Spoiler it airs here at 7:30 PM - really trying to avoid spoilers so haven't really been on twitter or reddit all day.
He's rolling these motherfuckers. I missed the first answer. The category was "based in" and the question was "What is Chicago?" Anyone know what the answer was for that one?
Holy shit, I knew he would do well but was not expecting that. We had a watch party at a local restaurant and it was a surreal experience watching it with him.
He also wore the same outfit tonight that he wore on the show, because he wanted to cosplay as himself.
They get you a discount at a couple of hotels they use but its really no different than a regular discount rate. But yeah , otherwise you pay everything to get there. They don't help you at all with wagering but they give you all the time you need to make the wager you want to.
They know they hold all the cards on that one. If you don't want to pay your way to L.A., they have thousands of people who will. At least they changed the payout so second and third place get some money rather than Rice-A-Roni and the home game.
There's a little kerfuffle going on in the Jeopardy community right now, but it may include a spoiler for an upcoming game so proceed with caution if you don't want to potentially know the result of a game next week. Spoiler I started seeing people posting about a guy who had created a website that boasted of his not-yet-aired Jeopardy victory. Like lewis was posting about his bro, this is the big no-no of being on the show. you have to sign papers that state you will not reveal the results of your game before the air date on penalty of forfeiting your winnings. Here's the archived web site: https://web.archive.org/web/20190325223937/http://kingjamesholzhauer.com/ This guy is considered an asshat by a lot of the trivia community for his behavior on message boards and in person, so sounds like many people told on him. The website has been revised. http://kingjamesholzhauer.com/ Jeopardy also ran a promo teasing the "next great Jeopardy champion" coming in April, so perhaps we will be crowning a new king. https://jboard.tv/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5116
that was very, very stressful. I really thought he was gonna lose cause we just watched it at his place with the family - nah just another 35k.
