another $50k+ night for james
he’s a monster
17 right today. Absolutely brutal test
He alluded to successfully betting the NFL, which is far more impressive than this current run.
This is the kind of guy you want on your team, but you give him the option of working from home so you can minimize your face time with him.
The fucking smile.
I took it last year and got called in for an audition, so cant take it this year. I am pretty sure 35 or more correct is the goal.
him constantly wishing people b-day is weird as fuck
Behind the scenes, they ask you not to write messages on your FJ. Does rebellious bad boy of Jeopardy King James Holzhauer care? Hell to the no.
Almost had him last night.
Another $90k + the smile tonight
It's exactly what a robot would look like if it were trying to make you think it's human and not a robot
Anyone got him down as the GOAT yet? I wonder how close he can get to Ken's streak? Its hard to imagine him going that long but who knows...
Why don’t you think he can get there? He is blowing everyone out. Yesterday was close though.
I'm still amazed that Ken was able to do that. 74 games baffles me. Also, they did change some rules because of Ken, like they started letting new contestants play practice rounds so they weren't going in cold against a champ who had the buzzer down pat. Its possible he could do it I guess but that many games just seems like such an anomaly.
Its interesting as well that the jeopardyfan website just did a statistical comparison of James and Ken and through 7 games Ken is a little better in things like buzzing in first and getting more questions but James is just maxing out the daily doubles. Maybe his get all the money technique will limit his reign even though it has a higher short term return.
James could get himself in trouble with the daily doubles. If you push big on the second daily double in double jeopardy you could dig a hole you can't get out of. That is a great strategy to maximize winnings but I don't think it is built for a long streak of games.
It's not that hard to win at betting the NFL. Winning betting widely available NFL sides and totals is, though. The dude is a world class sports bettor regardless. I interacted with him a long time ago on the Twoplustwo forums, where I learned a ton from him and a few other guys he was friendly with when I was just starting out. He also had a blog called Results Disoriented, where he posted a lot of good stuff, both concepts as well as some futures/props where he'd modify Kenpom efficiencies to match the betting market and run futures odds (either win championship or props like "will team x" make the Sweet 16) based on that, which crushed it.
Maximizing winnings is his goal. Further, he'd likely rather win $x over 15 episodes than the same $x over 40, since there is an opportunity cost to filming. He's taking time off sports betting and/or spending time with family, friends, etc. Maybe he enjoys being on Jeopardy, but from what I know about the guy, he's pretty big on work/life balance and Jeopardy would fall into the work category even if enjoyable to be on just as winning sports betting is enjoyable but still ultimately work.
Won again. Now owns the second highest money win total ever behind only Jennings.
$460k in 8 days vs. $2.5m in 74
He won big, and he still fucked up on the first daily double.
Damn he’s winning almost twice as much per game as Ken
Yeah not entirely sure he isn't some sort of cyborg.
Ken could have kept going. The rumor has always been that the producers asked Ken to throw his last game
I'd have said ask me again when I hit 100
Has he commented on that cringy website?
Who knows the shady dealings in the smokey back rooms of the Sony studio but I really doubt that. One thing I know is that a lot of urban legend type notions float around the Jeopardyverse and another thing is that because of the old quiz show scandals the Jeopardy crew and all game shows are really fussy about stuff that could compromise the legality of the show. I don't think the people who work on Jeopardy are going to risk their awesome, pretty cushy jobs for any outcome on a show that is basically a money-printing machine anyway.
Yeah, the only reason I still wonder is because that last game he was missing questions that seemed like they would have been really easy for him and also made some out of character wagers in the daily doubles and final jeopardy iirc. Then again he probably was bored running a rape train on all the challengers for 70+ games
That rumor is impossibly stupid for many reasons
sorry guys lol
hey, douche. Can you spoiler that shit? I don't watch until it airs at 6 PM (mountain time no less) and I'd like to be able to enter this thread without having shit spoiled in the late morning/early afternoon
fuck you, dude
no problem, Hogview. or should i say: JAMES HOLZHAUER
you should read Ken's book Brainiac. i don;t remember a whole lot about it but was a good read and i'm pretty sure he talked about the fatigue and boredom factor as the his run went on.
A former Jeopardy champion speculates on how long King James will be on the show based on some released info:
Champ Josh Hill in some deleted tweets:

This is not a spoiler, but an observation, as one of the promotional ads that the show ran prior to the current champion included a blurb of the host saying "two million dollars..." ...at the current pace, those who have "tuned out" during this run can come back around mid-June.

At the current pace of ~$51k per day, aforementioned "two million dollars" mark will be reached in thirty more days, or six more weeks. Add in two weeks for the Teachers next month, and that takes into mid-June. Not a spoiler, just an observation and some "quick maths."

I have zero inside knowledge about this and this is pure speculation, so if the run ends sooner than mid-June, then maybe the "two million dollars" blurb is culled from some other pre-recorded audio not taken during this run, but based on the ad, and the audio so far, I doubt it.
Damn he’s killing it.
A cool $40k pickup on final
He bet small in DDs too for him. Could have easily had another 20-30k
-Only contestant to win over $100,000 on an episode ... and he's now done it twice.
-Ninth straight win, ups total winnings to $566,660.
-Second on the show's all-time winnings list.
James is now #1, #2, and #3 on the all-time single-game winnings record, and he's only won 9 games. He basically sets a new single-game record every 3 games; just utter domination.
Guys we are watching Michael Jordan in his prime. Wayne Gretzky, Muhammad Ali, Babe Ruth ect. Today was just pure dominance. 341 correct, 13 incorrect.
The dude is averaging almost $70,000 per game.
Can we not spoil what happens?
I get it for the morning...but if you click this thread in the afternoon/evening and you haven’t seen it then it’s your own damn fault
It’s not game of thrones. At this point, losing or passing $200k are really the only things that need to be spoilered.
I'm surprised he didn't risk more there with the other two only having like 3k
he Should wager $60k here.
Imagine having a dream of being on Jeopardy, spend time studying and preparing, go through the process of being selected, fly out there, and then run into this monster
Marry fuck kill brad James ken
$131,127 tonight. This is incredible.
He risked all he could. Second was 5,400
This is bonkers.
We need Ken v. Brad v. James in a 5-day battle. I'd skip appointments for it
