These guys are pretty good despite the fact that everyone of them is hell-bent on spending at least 1 month each on the IL this season. Melky has been quite the lottery ticket.
Theoretically we could have a rotation of Cole, Taillon, Morton, Musgrove, Williams/Lyles. Not mad about it though..
It’s so hard to pay attention to this team. I follow along but I can’t even bring myself to watch the games anymore. This roster is awful
Need Taillon back ASAP. I’m also hoping that Reynold replaces Polanco as an everyday starter. He absolutely deserves to start and I imagine Dickerson will be back soon. On the plus side, Marte is starting to heat up.
The roster management is like Jekyll and Hyde on this team. There is no excuse for Cole Tucker to be on the bench in Pittsburgh when he should be getting regular ABs in Indy. It also pisses me off that when he was in the lineup, Hurdle had him in the 8 spot. That's a foolproof way to destroy the kids confidence. Recall Kevin Kramer and let him be fed to the lions.
It’s pathetic. Just do a fucking rebuild rather than this shit we’re doing Trade Velasquez. He’s a top 5 closer and you can get some really good young pieces. Pointless to have an elite closer on a team not using him Cut archer- save the money We have too many outfielders. Trade Dickerson or Polanco and get some arms. What’s the point of having 5 solid outfielders when our bullpen and starting rotation is a disaster
It's time for a regime change IMO. Huntington had his chance 4 and 5 years ago. He didn't pull the trigger and its been all downhill since. Start with our drunken president Frank Coonelly and go all the way down to Hurdle.
I was telling my old man yesterday that the first guy that has to go is Felipe Vazquez. The guy is totally dominant but there's no need for him to be here now or next year, because never have a close lead in the 9th anymore but the problem is that Neal Huntington is still the GM here. Buster Onley mentioned that C Keibert Ruiz would centerpiece a deal with LAD if we sent Vazquez. But then you remember that NH traded Gerrit Cole for Michael Feliz, Joe Musgrove, and Colin Moran who have, IMO, been average at best as a group whilst Gerrit Cole moved to a new system where you are encouraged to throw the ball hard (also see Morton, Charles A.) for better results and he's become the ace he shoulda been here. So you cant help but wonder - will we be fleeced again? If my 8 year old daughter wasn't starting to get into MLB like she is, I'd probably be stepping away until the team got a completely new regime at the helm. Instead I'll be in Pittsburgh in 3 weeks to watch this shit show in person, but at least there will be a fireworks display.
Hot take incoming: Trade Josh Bell, too. His arbitration starts after this season, he's a Boras client, he's gonna get paid, we're not going to need his services. Call up Will Craig and let him man 1B on the cheap until Mason Martin is ready.
Smart move is to trade Bell, but it would be such a bad look and I don’t trust Huntington to get the best return. Need to burn the forest down and start over.
I’m in team trade Bell He’s a free agent after 2022...he’s not signing an extension, and we’re nit going to be competitive until then...I also don’t see him having this type of production again so trade him now
