If you absolutely *must* have brisket, wait for Franklins (or call a week in advance with like a 10 lb order to avoid the lines)
Had friends in town and was going to preorder for labor day weekend and they disabled it for those dates.
He is my age and I knew guys that worked shady real estate deals with him back in college. He was kicked out of UT for cheating. Figured it was only a matter of time before he got in trouble but I’m shocked at how much he’s been able to amass.
Where’s the best place to watch games, either Rainey or 6th....specifically LSU/Texas. Should be a fun one to watch.
Have heard some crazy stories about the guy. Hard to believe he’s in his 30s. I work in Frost, so used to see him occasionally in the elevator and he always had former athletes waiting on him in the lobby. I’m sure a lot of them are having a real bad time right now.
same owner i believe they just changed the name to make it more appealing for more people i guess idk
I’m in Austin for the first time next week staying at the W on Lavacca Street. Looking for good food and drink Recs. I’m heading to Live Oak after I land because it’s right be the airport and have reservations for dinner at Comedor. Also gonna do Franklin, Garage, Roosevelt Room, Easy Tiger on 6th. I’m only in town for 3 days so looking for good bars and dinner recommendations. Maybe a brewery or two. Thanks
It might be a bit far. But I would highly recommend a morning trip to Valentinas for a Real Deal Holyfield Their lunch/dinner menu is a great mix of bbq & tex mex as well
Spending Sunday and Monday at my parents’ in New Braunfels and they’re taking me to Valentina’s on the way home from the airport Sunday afternoon
The wait can be stupid-long but Matt's is my clear favorite for Tex Mex. Also seconded on Valentina's. The tortillas are crack but it's a bit of trip without a car. I would have recommended Terry Black's for meat but tourists have recently discovered it and lines are out the doors on weekends. I've honestly heard people showing up at La BBQ after 11 am on Fridays and having no issues with the wait. Micklethwait on the East Side is really good too but you'll want to show up when they open.
micklethwaits sides are elite, La had the better bbq. I really really enjoyed Odd Duck, Launderette right behind it, not necessarily uniquely Texas stuff though. coming back for a few days in january so will be reading through for new recs don't mind me
I wouldn't call Austin a "Burger Town" but P Terry's is a great local chain if you want something quick. Counter Cafe does great breakfast/brunch and their burger is also really solid. For more upscale, I'd go Clark's Oyster Bar or Justine's (one of my favorite restaurants in Austin).
