3.5-4 cups is the recommended feeding according to the Blue Buffalo bag. I give him three cups total per day; 1.5 cups in morning and then 1.5 cups in the evening. He’s ALWAYS eaten everything that’s put in front of him. We’ve had dogs in the past that have grazed throughout the day but I don’t know if that would ever be possible for him. So yours eats once per day in the morning and that’s it?
Interesting. Maybe I'll try it. Just feel like he'd be starving in the evenings but I suppose it would just take some time to get into a new routine.
I would suggest you feed more in the morning the first few days and just a little in the evening, and slowly back it down overall Feeding once a day is such an easy relief, and the dog couldn't care less
Guy that has bred and trained more field champions than I can count taught it to me He also fills their dry food bowl with water before giving it to them every morning Says it pretty much hydrates them enough that the average day of training they really dont need any more water (not that he doesn't provide water)
Not a great photo, but anyone ever see something like this? My older lab has a spot on his chin that lost its hair. Not really a raised bump or a lump.
Our pup was supposed to be born last week. Hadn’t received an update from the breeder so I emailed this weekend. Unfortunately it was a false pregnancy and they’re retiring her. Their next female won’t go into heat until December, so the earliest pupper pick-up wouldn’t be until April 2020. We’ve reached out to two local rescues so that we can foster in the meantime. House is just too clean for my liking... need some dog hair and slobber on the hardwoods.
Watched The Art of Racing in the Rain last night and let me tell you that I am a glutton for punishment
Having read that book as well as Marley and Me, fuck if I was ever going to watch either of those movies.
What was that movie that was controversial cause it appeared they were torturing the dogs while filming? Remember one video coming out of them putting a german shepard into a swarming river or something.
I have noticed some I guess what you would call niche brands at the store that do "all life stages" and just specify for large breed. Maybe one more for like senior dogs but no puppy.
Where did you say she was at and what kind of dog? I would think there is a rescue somewhere near her that will take her.
Found out that Blue's dad stays around 70 pounds with a max of about 75, his mom is just over 80 pounds and his granddad on his dad's side was over 90. Really curious to see where he ends up.
It’s columbus and an Alaskan malamute. Would think if there’s a place for pits there’s a place for all breeds. Her vet recommended to take her to a behavioral vet to see what they say. OSU has one. $600 initial then like $150 every visit after. Really wanting to see if Fluoxetine is an option. Have heard it work really well for a couple people we know.
First and only book that made me cry. I remember having to open a dictionary to find the definition of “entrails.”
I got suckered into seeing Marley and Me after not even seeing a trailer for it and having no idea what I was going to see.
These all popped up when I searched for no kill shelters up there. Even if they cant take her they may be able point her towards some help.
Two new fosters, we get them Saturday. Black is the male, blonde is the female. They were picked up somewhere out in the sticks having just delivered a litter of seven. Mom and dad were on separate 6’ leads tied up to trees with the litter caged between them. All pups have been adopted through the rescue. Mom and dad will stay with us, first time doing heartworm treatment but it seems pretty straight forward.
Confirmed, definite good boy/girl. These are the foster pups. She’s on the left, total attention whore. He’s a bit more shy so far, but opening up more as he’s getting comfortable.
Good on you for fostering dude, that's awesome, they look fantastic for what they have gone through. What group are you fostering for? Or are you doing it direct with the muni shelter? Either way that is awesome and you rock.
So last week Pixel took in a litter of one-week old pups, no mom in sight. They have been getting bottle-fed since then, seem to be doing really well, eyes just opening up now. Today we find out that the shelter was able to trap mom, god knows what she has been through. This is her, just skin and bones. In the spoiler is a pic of all the ticks they took off her, poor girl has to feel 100% better now, praying she isn't HW+ but I can't imagine she doesn't at least have something from the ticks. Spoiler [/spoiler[
They’re with Atlanta Lab Rescue. First time fostering with them; we’d worked with a county shelter on our last foster and this has been so much easier.
