I’ll file this away in the memory banks. I’m still rocking the north face stuff since my body doesn’t change from baseline of overweight.
Thanks, buddy. They don’t have my particular fat boy size (xxl), but I purchased something very similar by Columbia from Amazon. Hope it works. I’ll only need it for a few blocks at a time (at least until the SO succumbs to her urge to hike in bone chilling weather). In the interest of the rules, here’s the pic: Not my preferred color, but it was $68 while the others were $93. And I hope to have it for only one season. Spoiler For those wondering, I asked them to hold the young minority and send only the jacket. He’s just too pretty for me—no one would believe I got him organically.
Fitting with the southerner jacket theme. Arc’teryx Atom LT Hoody. 259 but was on sale at REI for 193. A little thinner and more comfortable than the Patagonia down sweater and supposedly just as warm.
I bet you l’d sweat your ass off in this thing. Value buy right here. I’ve had a Stoic dry bag for over ten years and that shot still holds up. https://www.steepandcheap.com/stoic...hcmNoIFJlc3VsdHM6SmFja2V0czoxOjQ6SmFja2V0cw==
They change fabrics around but I’ve found the down sweater blocks wind better but performs worse when wet. I use them interchangeably for the most part. The Venta however from the year I bought one has no wind blocking ability. You’re warm until there’s a slight breeze. It’s perfect under a gore shell but on its own, probably the least thought out jacket i own.
Anyone know anything about this company? https://modernegentleman.com/collec.../the-moderne-executive?variant=30978865397871
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/pionee...ite-radio-ready-black/6328683.p?skuId=6328683 Went to Best Buy to look at screens for my car and my wife noticed this. It was an error and after about and hour of confusion the manager honored it so got the thing for $50. It was supposed to be $50 off.
Has TMB come to a consensus on the best smart thermostat? Should we have professional install? To add to that question, have two units with two different thermostats and would like to link them if that is possible.
I have 7 ecobees in my house (zoned). You can use the app to control multiple units, but they are set independently. My only gripe is that the temperature seems to fluctuate wildly, but there may be some zoning inefficiencies that I don't understand. You can install yourself. Before you buy anything, see if you have a C wire already. If you don't, you'll either need to run one or buy a thermostat that doesn't require it. I used a sensi in my old house that was fine
I honestly think it's awful. I'm sure it's going to be a few mortgage payments when one of the control boards goes out
My ecobee came with a little thingy for if you dint have a c wire that you put in the unit in the attic and it somehow eliminates the need for one
I found out the hard way that these power converters are a little temperature sensitive. We had a month long period where our heat would go out at night and then sporadically it would start working again once the attic warmed up during the day. Had a couple companies come out to look at it and they replaced all kind of hardware parts on the unit but no one ever thought to look at that converter. Ran a new C wire and that fixed everything. Super frustrating freezing our ass off at night and then having HVAC companies tell us they couldn't figure it out.
I have the ecobee and it’s super easy to install and use. The one thing though that I wish it did, and I don’t know if others do, is proved feedback on when it was on, how long it ran. Would be nice to see where I could change things.
There are 3 hvacs/furnaces and 9 total thermostats (7 ecobees). They just control single rooms. It probably isn't efficient. Maybe the last guy just liked to tinker
https://www.carhartt.com/products/Full-Swing-Cryder-Jacket-102207 They're on sale this week. Got mine a month ago and of course paid full retail for it I'm 6'2" 210 and got a large/tall. I'm a fan.
If there are only 3 HVAC/furnaces, than anything after the 3rd thermostat seems as though it will just be fighting a never ending battle with the other thermostats. This makes no sense to me, but then again I'm not a smart man.
Each thermostat is connected to a control board in the attic. The control board allow rooms that share the same hvac to be set to different temps. My guess is that it's like a hotel room, on a residential scale
That’s kind of cool, especially if you plan on subletting part of the house or just have people who can’t agree on a temperature at night living in different rooms. If you ever have extreme temperatures in a certain zone just know with time the dampener on those mixing boxes will stick full open or full closed at times. I worked in an office areas in a much larger building where it was in the high 50’s for the month of January because it got stuck closed and we just weren’t getting any heat.
If you mean the control panels, it's this https://ewccontrols.com/ultra-zone/#whatiszoning Although these seem a lot cheaper than I would have guessed. Could be the next exofficio tmb group buy
Think I’m going to bite the bullet and get a quad HD monitor for my MacBook. Found a deal for one for $145 with the coupon code. It’s a refurbished one but I don’t care. Don’t have 4K monitor money, plus my MacBook can’t do 4K anyways, and I don’t have the space to get a TV as a monitor.
This makes more sense if there’s baffles in the ducts. Definitely sounds like the person liked to tinker.
