this is why I appreciate, but don't "like" that fight. I needed to see the director's commentary to understand what made that fight great. That fight was the deepest of deep cuts where maybe .5% of the viewing audience were able to pick up on what was happening. The rest of us needed Filoni to tell us why the fight was short, what each movement meant, etc.
My hopes are so so high for this. This last spot is the best one yet IMO. The implications of what are being said by Palpatine make me very excited.
Well, Palpatine has or has had a bunch of dark side force users like the Inquisitors. So not necessarily. Also, I think it was said somewhere along the way that Palpatine was going to do away with the rule of two. He believed he had won and that the Sith ruled now, so there was no longer a need for the old rule of two
Didn’t he kill Maul’s brother because of the rule of two though? That Maul with an apprentice was a rival because their can be only 2? the inquisitors weren’t sith or being trained like sith so they wouldn’t count as “two”
I can get that. I didn’t pick up on all that on first watch at all either. I still liked it because it was like a classic samurais but with laser swords instead of the light saber fights we normally see
No. He killed Maul's brother because he's a fucking evil dude. He killed him to punish Maul for insubordination. He killed him to prove a point, that he is and always will be better than Maul. He left Maul alive, but Maul was no longer a Sith. Palpatine has Dooku as his apprentice It's true the Inquisitors we're not Sith, but that wasn't part of the question. "Didn't Vader know Palpatine would kill him if he was going to train Luke in the Dark Side?" (Or something like that) I'm just saying that he could be trained in the Dark Side anf still have the rule of two.
You’re like. Man, that was a solid flick. Sucks the hero’s died but good work all around......then they hit you with the Vader hallway scene. Dear god. Spoiler Also I’ll always remember watching it for the first time. In front of us was a mom and her 2 daughters (probably 8 and 10) and her son (probably 6). And the girls were basically in tears at the end....then they flipped the fuck out screaming and cheering when they handed the plans to Leia. That scene will always make me smile.
My older brothers had a sick LandSpeeder toy. That thing used to rocket across the basement floor when you let it loose.
Dr Aphra series would be super fun, like space Indiana Jones https://comicbook.com/starwars/2019/12/13/star-wars-disney-plus-secret-series-doctor-aphra/
i thought this was really good (especially the criticism of plinkett and the red letter media shitheads)
I hadn't thought about half of that stuff. Gonna go ahead and call this required viewing ahead of TROS.
That’s one of the greatest ongoing legacies of the star wars franchise; Harrison ford having no fucks for SW nerd’s shit
This was really well done. I still have issues with the film that he didn't touch on in this video but I definitely don't think TLJ is awful like some say. I mostly had an issue with the pace and the whole Casino portion and the drug out space chase.
This was really good and the best part was when he said Rogue One was boring and if you liked it you are a bad moron.
This was good. I didn't think TLJ was bad, was I in the minority? The entire casino thing was dumb but other than that I enjoyed it.
Youre kind of making his point for him. Focusing on insignificant (albeit agreed it's incredibly cheesy) minutia that doesnt really speak to the overall themes
I still don't understand people's problem with the shoulder brush off or the Leia space scene. The Leia scene, in particular, baffles me that people have issues with it. We're all aware we're watching Star Wars movies, right?
Both scenes (and off the top of my head, I’d add Poe prank calling Hux) are awful in that they are so stupid that they trivialize the material. Like, am I really supposed to give the benefit of the doubt to a movie that starts with a yo mama joke? It was a new and innovative way for a Star Wars movie to be shitty, which is too bad because I do think there is strong story telling in the Rey-Kylo-Luke line.
My problem with the Leia Poppins scene was that I about laughed out loud in the theater which I don’t think RJ was going for
