Katie Nolan has an ig story of Mike Ryan dancing to Vanilla Ice, drinking a White Claw. It’s as douchetastic as you think it is.
Chris Simms only got on because of his dumbass comment. They then spent weeks making fun of his dumbass comment.
I found some of their YT clips good, but it always seemed to be the ones where they were joking around. The "nuanced" takes rarely got me to keep watching
Dan said Papi pulled the hand shake fake out on the CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines. He thought the guy was a fan of the show. The CEO thought Papi was making a Coronavirus joke
I've had some Doleac songs in mind but haven't bothered to call in. The Shangri-Las - Leader of the Pack would've been quality but I don't know anyone would get the song.
The original to Billy Joel's Anthony's Song was the best IMO. Return of the Mack was high quality today though.
Never understood why the Right Time got bumped off the radio rotation. Also Bo and Papi on Highly Questionable was elite.
Agreed, Pablo is ok when not one of the drivers. As a backseat passenger with input he excels. But I think Pablo and Bo are guilty of appearing to come off as wanting people to know they are smarter than everyone, which right or wrong can rub people the wrong way. I think as bad as stugotz is Dan and Mike Ryan have that same tendency but they and the show benefit a great deal from stugotz dumbing it down. Sounds crazy but just my two cents.
the difference between Dan/Mike and Bomani/Pablo is that both sets come off as the smartest guy in the room at times but Dan and Mike have the self awareness to realize when they come off like tools and Bomani/Pablo revel in it.
The marketing is also completely different. Dan markets his show as absurdity and fun. Everyone pushed Bomani/Pable as "these are the smartest guys you'll hear" and I think that either sets them up for failure ("they're not really that smart") or people just don't tune in at all because they just expect a pompous/arrogant show. Has any ESPN show ever worked where they said "tune in to this and you'll get smarter because these guys are super smart!"? Numbers Never Lie was supposed to be that, and pretty quickly ended up basically becoming His and Hers. They have the NFL Match-Up show that basically airs at 6 AM on a Sunday or really late some other night. I guess maybe OTL, but that's also basically a news program.
Replaying Stugotz's aggressive laugh at Doleac's "tomorrow!?" was great radio It kept building on itself and you couldn't tell if it was audio Stugotz laughing at Doleac or him laughing at himself
Dan sold high noon as something different. Instead it was nothing more than another espn show that gives opinions on the topics of the day.
Since I'm working from home now like so many others, I'm able to catch the full broadcast on ESPNnews every day. I hope they're working to figure out some cameras because the show is so much better when you can see all their reactions to everything.
Did anyone listen to the new Mystery Crate podcast? I really hope that was an April Fool's joke that they just released a day late. Cliffs: Dan interviewed a jackass who will hopefully be getting arrested soon if he's a real person.
Tim Jerns. He's apparently a strength coach at Southwest Tulsa College who is still having team workouts. His workouts were already ridiculously stupid/dangerous to begin with.
No idea. I googled it too after I listened because the guy was saying such ridiculous things that I thought it had to be fake. Dan mentioned the interview a few times during the show today though so who knows.
This is pretty hilarious and includes some LeBatard and Friends people. Spoiler: Dan isn't one of the ones who joins.
Pretty funny. Gotta be close to a tie between Lin Manuel and DWade. The funniest were the unexpectedly random ones like Ryan Leaf and Joey Chestnut.
So Lebatard may be on the way out from ESPN. Would be an absolutely terrible decision if that happens. Not sure where he goes if it happens. Only option would be Satellite radio, because he's 100% not going to fox.
