I think also the fast pace kind of depleted the weight of things as they happen. I loved Ragnar but felt little when he was killed. I’m not really trying to complain because I enjoy the show a ton but I think it serves it’s purpose well of being a low frills fun machine and I’m ok with that
Love this show, but hate that they have edward, his sister, and uhtred's puny son in the fight scenes
Why? It was known at that time that kings And queens often fought at the front as they wished depending on how they ruled. Perhaps an argument can be made for Uhtred’s son, but I mean it’s Uhtred’s son.
Because they're physically frail and it's weird to see them slicing dane warriors. I don't feel the same about brida, so maybe it's just a casting thing
I really enjoyed this show. Finished all seasons in a few weeks. The pace was breakneck the first two years. It didn’t allow some huge moments feel as large as it should’ve. The fall of Uhtreds brothers death being one that stands out. Season 3 and 4 you can see the pace slow some and the moments feel big. The final conversation between Alfred and Uhtred was one of the best scenes I’ve seen in some time. Just fantastic TV. Can’t wait for season 5. Would love to Uhtred finally get his home back but it doesn’t seem like his goal is to do that any longer.
He’s lost his spirit after being defeated. I agree ultimately it’s where this goes. I’m just not sure we see it season 5. With all that said I think we all know how things end for Uhtred and it will by the hands of Brida. That’s my wife prediction and I can’t say I disagree.
The ultimate outcome seems to be raising Edward’s first son, didn’t like that spoiler assuming they get there
would hope he eventually moves to take back his kingdom. After his failed attempt I’m ready for him to get back on that horse and take what’s his.
been trying to find a replacement for this show. Britannia is probably the closest I've gotten. anyone else have suggestions?
Warrior on Cinemax is v good and I’m p hooked on it edit: not really similar insofar as viking shit, but it’s great story and action
Then yeah this’ll work. It takes place in San Francisco and is about Chinese gangs vs Irish gangs. It’s pretty great
i have rewatched this show probably about 4 times. oh to have the thrill of watching it fresh all over again
Doing a rewatch since I’ve read the books. I like the Beocca change from the books and other than that it’s pretty loyal; most of the changes are getting rid of a lot of the boats stuff and I imagine that’s a budget thing. Im going to try to get the last book this week.
I don’t need an endless line of Aethelreds and Aelfleds. The price of buying them in Wheel of Fortune alone.
Rob Zombie looking dude just cut off the queens head so Uhtred harpooned him with the assist from the priest. Damnnn
I usually understand combining characters for tv shows to streamline the plot but combining Uhtreds two sons (one priest one warrior) into one son (pussy warrior priest) was a bad decision.
Guthred. I was trying to avoid spoilers. But ya I guess I missed how he came about or why they were rescuing him. All these names are confusing.
oh ok, I always though Aldhelm looked like Gareth with that dumb haircut so that's where my mind went.
How many times can Uhtred save the king and everyone only for the king to find a way to charge him with some wrongdoing? Or find a way to make him serve him? Also the kings wife is just awful. Always in his ear bitching.
